Cost: $2 to come out of uniform and attend the disco Clothing must be sun safe (no singlet tops/dresses or midriff tops) and fully enclosed shoes need to be worn. A variety of foods and drinks will be available to be purchased from 50c to $1
Entry to Government Selective High Schools for Year 7 in 2020 Applications for placement in Year 7 at a selective high school in 2020 will be open to parents of students in Year 5 from 9 October to 12 November 2018. If you would like to have your child considered for Year 7 selective high school entry in 2020, you need to apply on the internet using a valid email address (not the student’s email address). Detailed instructions on how to apply online will be available from mid-September 2018 at https:// education.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selective-high-schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7 . The application website opens at that link on 9 October 2018 and closes on 12 November 2018. You must apply before the closing date. There are no paper application forms. If you do not have internet access, you could apply at a public library. If you have a disability that prevents you from using a computer, you can contact the Unit for assistance after 9 October 2018. School Placement Test on the morning of Thursday 15 March 2018 at a local school. Parents are asked to email the High Performing Students Unit: [email protected] or telephone: 1300 880 367 if they have enquiries not covered in the application information booklet. A personalised note was given to all Year 5 students, please check your child’s school bag.
Attendance Parents/carers, please be aware that family holidays and travel are no longer considered under the exemption from school procedures. Travel outside of vacation period is now counted as an unjustified absence. The principal can however, accept travel as appropriate if it has significant cultural or educational benefits. An application to the principal in these circumstances is necessary. Going camping, Fiji, Bali, Queensland etc do not meet this criteria.
Finland During the school holidays Mrs Bowen will be participating in an educational study tour in Finland. The purpose is to study their educational system, which is one of the world’s best, and to bring back and adapt ideas where appropriate to an Australian context for Waratah Public School. It is also an opportunity to show case the brilliant initiatives and programs that are implemented at Waratah Public School. These initiatives and programs contribute to the prestige of our school and the reason why we are considered one the state leaders in education and wellbeing.
