A variety of foods and drinks will be available to be purchased from 50c to $1 Entry to Government Selecve High Schools for Year 7 in 2020 Applicaons for placement in Year 7 at a selecve high school in 2020 will be open to parents of students in Year 5 from 9 October to 12 November 2018. If you would like to have your child considered for Year 7 selecve high school entry in 2020, you need to apply on the internet using a valid email address (not the students email address). Detailed instrucons on how to apply online will be available from mid-September 2018 at hps:// educaon.nsw.gov.au/public-schools/selecve-high- schools-and-opportunity-classes/year-7 . The applicaon website opens at that link on 9 October 2018 and closes on 12 November 2018. You must apply before the closing date. There are no paper applicaon forms. If you do not have internet access, you could apply at a public library. If you have a disability that prevents you from using a computer, you can contact the Unit for assistance aſter 9 October 2018. School Placement Test on the morning of Thursday 15 March 2018 at a local school. Parents are asked to email the High Performing Students Unit: [email protected] or telephone: 1300 880 367 if they have enquiries not covered in the applicaon informaon booklet. A personalised note was given to all Year 5 students, please check your childs school bag. Aendance Parents/carers, please be aware that family holidays and travel are no longer considered under the exempon from school procedures. Travel outside of vacaon period is now counted as an unjusfied absence. The principal can however, accept travel as appropriate if it has significant cultural or educaonal benefits. An applicaon to the principal in these circumstances is necessary. Going camping, Fiji, Bali, Queensland etc do not meet this criteria. Finland During the school holidays Mrs Bowen will be parcipang in an educaonal study tour in Finland. The purpose is to study their educaonal system, which is one of the worlds best, and to bring back and adapt ideas where appropriate to an Australian context for Waratah Public School. It is also an opportunity to show case the brilliant iniaves and programs that are implemented at Waratah Public School. These iniaves and programs contribute to the presge of our school and the reason why we are considered one the state leaders in educaon and wellbeing.
