punishments. A bulletin was heard in the i-lecs tonight that the war was over, and before

the news was contradicted, the Colonel had etood drinks all round.

All during the day rumors have been coming in that the war with Japan is over~ and the bar , .. has been opened on several occasions due to these falso alarms. A riot squad has been

organized under "che eo mmand of Lt. Senior with twenty other ranks, vlho have been standing

to all day in order that they may quell and repitition the V-E Day riots at a moments

notice. At about 9.00 in the evening word came in that the Liquor store in Truro was

threatened. The riot squad was rushed to the scene, and apart from one broken window,

damage was prevented. Our squad was the first to ,arrive on the scene, and forming a

semi-circle around the Liquor Store, and taking the sc.abards off their bayonets ce.used

the crowd to melt quickly away. The one broken t..,-indo\v was infortunately caused by one

of our own m-en. In spite of rumors com2.ng in all day, the men were employed as usual on

each evening.

TheE.War is over, and the question of the hour is vrhat w"'ill happen to the C•A.P.F. A

training syllabus was carried out today, but m2_de difficult by its apparent uselessness

in the view o~ the private soldier. However, the afternoon was occ~pied by two films

at theCanadian Legion Hut, followed by an hour of sports in the Battalion Area. Two other

ranks being negroes, were returned to No. 6 D.D. due to the regulations vJhich exist in

the United States. There is, of course, as yet no \.YOrd of any cancellation of formation

plans, and the Battalion is contlnuing to . organize and prepare its advance parties, v;hich

are scheduled to leave for Fort Breckenbridge between the lSth and 20th of the month. j@i£ I

of ye.sterdays conference were passed on. All personnel who wish to return to college

on discharge have been advised to register at their appropriate colleges, which, it is

understood, ·\vill faciliate discharge i'Jhen the authority comes through.

All_ Reinforcements previously carried on the strength of No. 2 Transit Camp, but under
