• A want is something you desire, but can live without
Here are some examples:• Going out to a restaurant• Buying an expensive pair of jeans• A new car• An i-pod• Taking a vacation

What is Maslow’s Theory?
• Maslow’s theory maintains that a person does not feel a higher need until the needs of the current level have been satisfied
• Maslow's basic needs are as follows:

•Esteem Needs
• Self-Actualization
The hierarchy has five levels:
• Physiological Needs: oxygen, water, protein, salt, sugar, calcium and other minerals and vitamins, shelter and sleep etc…
• Safety Needs: security, stability, protection from physical and emotional harm
• Social Needs: affection, belonging, acceptance, friendship, community
• Esteem Needs: (Internal ones are need for self-respect, confidence, autonomy, and achievement. External ones are need for respect of others, status, fame, glory, recognition and attention.)
• Self-actualization: Realizing one’s potential, reaching goals
