President’s Letter Happy Spring! Won’t it be great when it actually FEELS like spring again? Whew, it was a rough winter.

While I was closed inside, I enjoyed the use of our on-line neighborhood communication tools, one of

which our very own Rob Walshe created just for Waltherson. I know many of you are on Nextdoor

Waltherson but just in case you aren’t, search for the name or if you want it as an app on your phone,

it’s a Google group & then find Waltherson. It’s a great way to get or give information, for example

finding a contractor, finding a lost or found pet, asking questions, posting concerns, or sharing

something in our neighborhood or beyond. Recently an idea of sharing dinners came up, which is a great

way to meet our neighbors. You can send a private message to someone or post something to

everyone. While I enjoy the use of NOGLI chat room, Nextdoor Waltherson is just for us. (How cool,

huh?) When I am away from home, I feel connected just by clicking on this app to see what’s

happening.

We had a vacancy on the board & were delighted to welcome Irona as our Member At Large. Irona has

been a consistent member of Waltherson & a long-time neighbor. We will call for a vote at our next

Waltherson General Meeting on May 5th.

So, now that “spring” is here, please reach out to your new neighbors (or even your seasoned ones) &

invite them to be a part of the community. Word of mouth is how I found out about the support that

we have here, so please spread the word.

Be well,

Helene / Waltherson President

Neighborhood Music

Cellar Stage

The Cellar Stage? What is the Cellar Stage? Where is it located? Great performances right here on Harford Road? Easy access by foot, bus, bike and car? Dinner and a show on a Friday or Saturday night without leaving the neighborhood????

The Cellar Stage is not new to the communities of Hamilton and Lauraville. It's been quietly plugging away for years! The Cellar Stage, located in the lower level of Faith Community Church at 5315 Harford Road, presents a line up of music in April.

PETER YARROW performs Saturday, April 11, 2015,

Tickets $36.00, Show time 8:00 PM

Peter Yarrow’s talents as a creative artist — both with the legendary trio Peter, Paul & Mary and as a

solo performer — are frequently directed at using music to convey a message of humanity and caring.

His gift for songwriting has produced some of the most moving songs from Peter, Paul & Mary, including

“Puff, the Magic Dragon,” “Day is Done,” “Light One Candle” and “The Great Mandala.” As a member of

the renowned musical trio, Yarrow has earned multiple gold and platinum albums, as well as numerous

GRAMMYs.

JAMES LEE STANLEY performs Friday, April 17, 2015

Tickets $21.00, Show time 8:00 PM

James Lee Stanley, the true renaissance man, born in Philadelphia, PA, has been recording and

performing since he was fourteen. He has toured consistently since he returned from the USAF (as a

Chinese linguist) and has performed up to three hundred dates a year since then, with such diverse acts

as BONNIE RAITT, ROBIN WILLIAMS, PETER TORK, NICOLETTE LARSON and even BILL COSBY. STEVEN

WRIGHT chose James Lee as his opening act for three years in a row; a testament to his professionalism

and talent.

The PAM ORTIZ BAND performs Friday, April 24, 2015

Tickets $21.00, Show time 8:00PM

Pam Ortiz is that rare songwriter who can touch people where they feel deeply, where they laugh and

where they cry. She did that for 10 years as lead vocalist and songwriter of the group TERRA NOVA in

the ‘90s playing to packed coffee houses in the Baltimore/Washington area. Her songs were showcased

in the three albums that the vocal group recorded.

Church of the Messiah North by Northeast - At The Church of the Messiah, 5801 Harford. April 18, Billy McComiskey with the

Stone Hill All Stars from 8 - 11pm. Very community friendly. This is the last show for the season and it

should be a good one.

NECOP – Northeast Citizens on Patrol In Northeast Baltimore we have a district wide Citizens on Patrol program called NECOP. The reasoning behind the COP program is that regular neighborhood patrols can make criminals feel

uncomfortable and drive them out of our neighborhood. Participants meet at the Northeast Police station at 1900 Argonne Drive near Morgan State and get a walkie talkie to keep them in contact with the Police and then proceed to patrol their neighborhoods in their cars. Patrols

normally go out each Thursday and Friday from about 7:30 - 10:30. For anyone interested in the Citizens on Patrol program, please contact Rob at [email protected].
