WALT: find out about the homes of the
rich and poor.
Let’s travel back in time…
Who lived in these
cottages?
What can you remember
about these buildings?
What did you find out about this
gate?
Can you remember
what it says?
Who lived here?
What can you remember about the church?
Where did the poor people live?
I want to see you…Working together in groups.
Helping each other.
Talking about the work.
Who lived here?
What were these places
called?
Thick smoke from factories polluted the
air.
Up to twenty people lived in
each tiny house.
People got their water
from a shared water pump.
The tiny houses had no
toilets or running water.
Up to eight or nine people
lived and slept in one room.
The streets were filthy so
disease spread quickly.
People had to steal food or
money to survive.
Who do you think lived in
these houses?
People lived in cleaner areas of
the city.
Only one family lived in the very
big houses.
The houses had many rooms that were beautifully
decorated.
The houses had toilets and a
water pump in the kitchen.
Children were looked after by
a nanny.
Servants and maids looked after the
people living in the house.
Everyone was well fed and
clean.
Where would you prefer to live and
why?
