CREATING .CONF FILE (CONFIGURATION FILE)Basically for any cryptocurrency all the necessary nodes are hard-cod-ed in the wallet by its developers. These nodes help download the chain and ensures that your wallet is synchronized and stays connect-ed 24 x 7. At some point your wallet may show 0 active connections or it won’t sync properly; especially if it is a brand new coin. At such instance you may need to add nodes to connect back to its network and start synchronizing. This is done with configuration files, these are nothing but a file that contains all the parameters and initial set-tings for a program to run. They contain all the necessary data and is used to customize an application specific environment. The ARMR Configuration file is needed to add information to sync wallets in or-der to start staking.

The ARMR wallet has a build-in function to view the “.conf” file. You can access it directly via “Settings” -> “Edit configuration file”. The Linux and MAC wallet cannot be encrypted until you have the .conf file set. The wallet should be opened atleast once to create the relevant folders.

In case you have to create the .conf file manually, follow these steps:

Windows OS

• A “.conf” file is not needed for the windows wallet, if it is working correctly.

Linux

• Copy/paste the following rpcuser=ARMRrpc rpcpassword=EuhkbD5wvklnw95Z2f5cBFikmcUBiUL9dQ7ZtvpFD7wH

• Save in folder /home/<username>/.armr/armr.conf

Mac OSX

• Open TextEdit’s Preferences, and switch to the Open and Save sec-tion. Under the “When Saving a File” panel, uncheck the “Add ‘.txt’ extension to plain text files” option.

• Copy/paste the following to TextEdit: rpcuser=ARMRrpc rpcpassword=EuhkbD5wvklnw95Z2f5cBFikmcUBiUL9dQ7ZtvpFD7wH

• On the menu bar click File -> Save As

• Choose the file name “ARMR.conf”. Note: It is .conf and not .conf.txt

• Save in folder /Users/your_name/Library/Application Support/ARMR

ENCRYPTION OF THE ARMR WALLETFor security reasons encrypting the wallet is required to protect your funds and keys.

• Before you begin: Open your wallet, go to ‘Re-ceive Coins’ and create a few new addresses for future use.

• In the top menu bar of your ARMR Wallet se-lect “Settings” then “Encrypt Wallet”

• Type in a secure passphrase then click “OK”. For best protection, use a long passphrase consisting of letters, numbers, symbols, and upper and lowercase

• Write down your passphrase somewhere you will not forget it and store it in a secure place

• From here the ARMR Wallet will prompt to shut down.

• Open the wallet and let everything sync. • From now on the wallet will ask for your pass-

phrase to perform any outgoing transactions. • Do a test with closing and opening the wallet

with your passphrase before getting coins to make sure it works!

If you wish to unlock the wallet for reasons such as staking or in order to perform multiple outgo-ing transactions. Select “Settings” then “Unlock Wallet”. Type your passphrase and click “OK”.

BACKING UP YOUR ARMR WALLETIt is strongly recommended that you follow both of the backup methods below. Method 1 is more convenient for loading your wallet on a different com-puter, but in some situations the file can get corrupted. Method 2 is less risky and therefore essential. Weekly backups might be enough for most users.

Method 1: Save wallet.dat file

Your wallet data is stored in a folder on your computer called “ARMR” (Windows and Mac) or “.ARMR” (Linux), which can be found in a differ-ent location depending on your operating system, as follows:

Windows (Vista, 7, 8, and 10): C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming

• AppData is a hidden folder by default. If you can’t see it, you need to open the View tab in the File Explorer and check the box next to “Hidden items.”

Windows (XP): C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application Data

• Application Data is a hidden folder by default. If you can’t see it, you need to do the following: Click Start and then click Control Panel. Click Appearance and Themes and then click Folder Options. On the View tab, under “Hidden files and folders” click “Show hidden files and folders.”

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support

• To get to the Library, hit Command+Shift+G from the Mac desktop (or Finder > Go > Go to Folder) and type ~/Library

• Library is a hidden folder by default. If you can’t see it, you need to do the following: Sierra (10.12) and High Sierra (10.13): Command+ Shift+L

Linux: /home/yourusername

Close the wallet. Locate the “ARMR” or “.ARMR” folder and open it. In-side, you will see several files and folders, including a file called wallet.dat. With the wallet not running, copy the wallet.dat file and save it to a secure place on an external drive (for example flash drive).

It is recommended to keep multiple copies such as on two different flash drives.

Optionally you can make a .dat file backup from the Wallet under the File menu. Type in a name with the todays date for example and store the file in several save places in case a device gets broken or lost.

To restore your wallet from a wallet.dat backup:

1. Be sure you have a backup wallet.dat and armr.conf file! Delete ev-erything in the “ARMR” or “.ARMR” folder (for the location of the folder on your OS see the previous page).

2. Copy the backup wallet.dat file (the file name has to be exactly like this) and if customized your armr.conf into that folder.

3. Open and run the wallet. It will download the blockchain from scratch. Initially it will show your balance as zero. Whenever it gets to a block in the blockchain where you received or sent coins, your bal-ance will increase or decrease accordingly.

4. When your wallet has downloaded the entire blockchain, you should see your current correct balance (Unless your wallet is corrupted, in which case you’ll need to restore your balance from your private keys; see “import a private key” instructions below).

Method 2: Save private keys

You should not use dumpprivkey to extract your private key, be-cause you will only get the pri-vate key of your main address. If you create a new address or a change address is automatically used, you will lose your funds. Instead you can use dumpwallet.

Make sure to unlock your wallet first. Then open your console un-der ‘Help’ -> ‘Debug Window’ and then you can simply type ‘dump-wallet armr_privatekeys.txt’ in your console.

After you hit enter you will get a text file. It will be saved in the same folder as ARMR-qt.exe and contains all private keys, including your change addresses and reserved addresses. So you can create a limit-ed amount of new addresses and still have the private keys.

Now you will have a complete backup of all coins that were in your wallet. If your digital wallet ever gets corrupted, you can import your private keys into a new, uncorrupted wallet, and your coins will be accessible from the new wallet.

For advanced useres: Note about “coin control” and private keys:

When used correctly, directing change to a newly-generated address promotes privacy. To avoid potentially costly mistakes, familiarize yourself with change addresses and how your wallet software imple-ments them.

Change addresses play a key role in improving privacy. When you send ARMR, if you do not use the Coin Control feature, the wallet will create a new address to store the “change” left over each time you make a transaction. This is a security feature, but it has a downside, which is that your wallet will contain more private keys as you send more transactions. If you don’t back up all your private keys, then you’re relying only on the electronic backup of your wallet.dat file.

The easiest solution is to keep sending your change back into your pri-mary wallet address, using Coin Control. To do this, copy your wallet address displayed in the Receive Coins tab of your wallet and paste it into the “custom change address” field of the Send Coins tab, and check the box next to that field. Then, when you make a transaction, your remaining ARMR will remain stored in the private key associated with that wallet address, and you won’t have to back up another pri-vate key after each transaction.

To import a private key into a wallet:

1. In the Console tab of the Help -> Debug window, type or paste the following in the command line field: importprivkey Your-PrivateKeyHere

2. Wait for the import process to complete. It may take a few minutes for each key you import, during which time your wallet may seem like it’s not working. Be patient and eventually it will finish importing. Then, close the wallet, and run it again. Upon restart of the wallet, you should see the imported coins in your balance.

STAKINGARMR features an energy-efficient proof-of-stake algorithm providing fast transaction confirmations and a fully integrated TOR+OBFS4 lay-er for network privacy almost anywhere in the world.

If you have encrypted your wallet you will need to unlock it to be able to stake. If you haven’t encrypted it, the wallet will stake directly when you open the wallet.

When staking, you are actually generating blocks that also need to be accepted by the rest of the network. If the network accepts your block, you are rewarded with your stake amount. If the network doesn’t accept your block, then your coins for that stake are returned and orphaned off the network. For example, someone gets in before you and their block gets accepted first, your block will become con-flicted/get rejected.

All is not lost however, the coinage is maintained for those coins, and will be used to calculate your next reward. When the overall network difficulty is increasing this means there are more wallets competing for that block reward.

BOTTOM RIGHT HAND ICONSWallet Lock/Unlock: We suggest that you encrypt (lock) your wallet at all times to protect your wallet from being compromised. Only you can do this. Also, you cannot stake with a locked wallet so please note this.

ARMR Icon: This icon when you hover over it shows your staking in-formation such as your weight and network weight. The icon itself will be in red colour if staking is active.

TOR: Shows if you are connected to the TOR network or not. Always ensure you are connected to the TOR network before conducting any wallet activities. The icon itself will be in red colour if TOR is active.

Connection: This icon lets you see how many active connections you are connected to in the ARMR community. These connections are dis-played in real time.

Tick: Shows you how many blocks of transactions history have been completed to date.

FURTHER FEATURESDebug

This particular data screen (see picure above) contains very specific ARMR technical data and command prompts. We urge that only ad-vanced users use this option to check more detailed data about their wallets.

Sign Messages

Allows users to sign messages with their addresses proving they own the ARMR addresses. It is strongly suggested that you do not sign any-thing too vague as this may be construed to try and get your identity by certain phishing activities. This feature is for more advanced users.

Verify Messages

This allows users to verify that others are in fact in control of the ad-dress they purport to use. It is advisable that users always ensure that whoever they are doing business or transacting coins with know that the other party is the true owner of the wallet address they are using.

DISCLAIMER ARMR does not accept any liability arising from user error, nor will ARMR reimburse users due to future loss of investment value or dam-ages arising therefrom.
