The Wallace Award®
The Wallace Award benefits the ongoing work of the American-Scottish Foundation and the Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton Bursary Awards for Arts and Education. Proceeds from the Wallace Raffle will be donated to the Alexander Robertson School, of which Wallace Award recipient Kenneth Miller is a trustee.
The ARS was established in 1789 by the Second Presbyterian Church (known locally as “the Scots Church”) and successful merchant Alexander Robertson. It educated both the sons and daughters of farmers and “common folk” to become effective citizens of the newly created United States. Now located on West 95th Street, the ARS continues its commitment to give a voice to all its students regardless of their socio-economic or cultural background, and for empowerment and education to go hand-in-hand.
The American-Scottish Foundation®
The mission of the Foundation, an international not-for-profit organization, is to establish links and strengthen ties between Scotland and the United States through the pursuit of contemporary social, cultural, educational, and business activities. The mission remains as relevant today as when the ASF was founded in 1956 by Lord Malcolm Douglas-Hamilton - to champion the extraordinary relationship between the peoples of Scotland and the United States as a bridge between two great countries - seeking to strengthen and support the future of the Scottish American diaspora and its legacy.
