Walking Together During COVID-19
Our Lenten walk continues through this time of anxiety brought on by the Coronavirus (COVID-19). You should have received emails about this on Wednesday and Thursday. An update will be provided to the congregation by email by noon on Saturday.
Here are some of the adjustments to how we worship aimed at limiting the spread of germs while preserving the integrity of our worship.
This Sunday we will share the Peace of Christ using the gesture pictured above. You extend both arms and hands forward at about waist height and with fingers together while saying “peace be with you.” As Christ stood among the disciples on Sunday, saying “Peace be with you” (John 20:19), so we speak this very same gift to each other.
We will give an offering to God without passing the offering plates. The offering plates will be in the Narthex on your way into worship. You can also give your offering electronically at www.LCRmarietta.org/give.
Those distributing Holy Communion will wash their hands before and after serving the congregation. Each communicant will receive the bread as usual. Then each communicant will receive an individual cup of wine or grape juice as is our regular practice at the 8:30 am worship service.
LCR’s Executive Council is taking the lead in coordinating our response to the situation and will keep the congregation informed as we walk together this Lent.
In Christ, Pastors Dave and Stephen

Men’s Retreat
The Third Annual Men’s Retreat was held from March 6th - 8th at Lutheranch. 50 men from 3 states and 4 congregations gathered for reflection and fellowship, and a shared desire for a deeper
relationship with Jesus Christ. With the Book of Acts as our guide, we built on the principles of proclaiming God’s Love, hearing (listening) to differing voices, and building & rebuilding relationships. We all left as changed men, ready to continue our faith walk with a deeper sense of purpose and commitment, “knowing that God will be with us, every step of the way.” Save the date: Jan 29-31, 2021.
Youth
In chapter 3 of “The Walk” by Pr. Adam
Hamilton, we’re being invited to reflect on what it
means to serve. He writes, “Most often the
opportunities to serve and show kindness are
unplanned—they are interruptions. Part of what
is necessary to serve Christ by serving others is
our willingness to be interrupted (80-81).”
Jesus told a story about that in Luke 10, we call it the Good
Samaritan, where love was a willingness to be interrupted.

Outreach
Tornados touched down in the Nashville, TN area last week and caused major chaos. Among
other damage sustained, the building for St. John’s Lutheran Church in Nashville was crushed.
God has raised up a huge response of support so far through the local Lutheran community, through Inspiritus, and also through LCR. We sent $1,200 worth of tarps, water, and gift cards with Mark Brosch and John Osberg last week.
They saw the devastation firsthand along with signs of God’s presence through the response of the church with prayer, food, and plenty of volunteers making plans to walk with St. John’s and the Nashville community into their recovery.
Watch a video from Bishop Strickland and Bishop Eaton.
