MIWA (Mahe Islamic Welfare Association) is a welfare organization working towards the betterment of poor Muslims in and around Mahe, Kannur District, Kerala. By the grace of Almighty Allah, the association in its last 21 years of successful existence, was able to help several widows, orphans, patients, students and others with medical, educational and financial aids.

MIWA with its 50 general members and 18 executive committee members has been working diligently for the past 21 years. Our income for the welfare activities mainly comes from members’ monthly contribution and the annual Zakat. MIWA has gained reputation and fame in the community through well constituted welfare plans and systematic and transparent distribution of financial assistance to the deserving families and poor students. We have extended our helping hand to other communities as well.

We also give special priority to education by giving financial aid to deserving students. To improve a society in all aspects, we need to improve them academically. Therefore, we give priority to potential and talented students who need financial assistance for their higher studies. To inspire the upcoming generation, MIWA also offers cash awards and scholarships to the toppers of Mahe.

The association is also focusing on up-lifting the society through various self-employment schemes. In future, this will be one of our main focus area.

MIWA with its committed, caring and selfless band of volunteers and well-wishers provide the background support to the initiatives of the association.

We believe that working with a ‘burning desire’ to make a difference, is the greatest motivator to do something meaningful. All that MIWA does is directed towards improving the lives of poorest of the poor. We receive numerous request letters from Mahe, soliciting financial support. We have dedicated representatives in Mahe to conduct rigorous and thorough enquiry of the request letters received.

As of today, we are helping around 55 families by providing small financial assistance towards their monthly living and medical expenses. Apart from this, we also provide financial help for construction or renovation of house and repaying of loans.
