Your time in St Ives might not be exactly the same as in other years. But we are working together to keep everyone as safe as we can and to allow the town to open up gradually without a second spike in infection. Many people are still worried about crowds and more people on the streets but it is important that we encourage everyone to be kind and tolerant to each other to make this work. This guide outlines essential information about the safety measures and advice for living in and visiting St Ives.

VEHICLES IN THE TOWN

The traffic control plan is intended to reduce the number of vehicles trying to drive down streets full of pedestrians. Vehicles will not be able to enter the central areas of the town (from Tregenna Place through into the harbour, and Wharf Road).

DAILY RESTRICTIONS

11am-4pm each day

Start Date: 29 June 2020

End Date: to be reviewed

A barrier will be manned with trained traffic officers and only those with passes or making essential journeys will be able to pass through into town.

Detailed information about the plan can be found on the Town Council website. Please be courteous to our staff. They will try to direct you to carparks or other modes of transport to reach the centre of town.

TRAVELLING TO ST IVES

If possible we strongly recommend you park further outside the town and make use of public transport. You can also travel quickly on foot. You may want to use the St Erth Park and Ride (Multi Modal Hub with 500 parking spaces) and take the scenic branch line into St Ives arriving right at the beach. Great Western Rail offers regular train service to St Ives. Frequent bus services run from Penzance to St Ives: A17, 16 and A2 (seasonal).

Cornwall Council manages most of the car parks in St Ives. A map of carparks is shown or you can visit Cornwall Council’s parking page. Some weekly passes for carparks can be booked online before you arrive.

• Familiarise yourself with all of the car parks in and around St Ives

• Understand how to pay or purchase a weekly pass

PARKING IN AND AROUND ST IVES

If you choose to drive to St Ives, then please take extra time to check routes and maps and be clear about your destination. Trying to avoid congestion in the centre of town will be difficult if you don’t know the way.

There are two main roads to approach St Ives:

1: Via the A30 and A3074

2: Via B3311

If you approach St Ives from the A3074 we would recommend turning off the Terrace on to Albert Road and parking at Trenwith Car Park, our large long stay car park, see map below.
