Bryan Stevenson
We need to talk about injustice
He wowed the audience using down home values, a set up story from his past and devastating facts. His demeanor was humbled and even though his audience was a considerable size he maintaining good eye contact.
Bryan Stevenson is the founder of the organization of the equal justice initiative. He is the founder and executive
director. He is a Alabama lawyer who dedicates his time to help the poor, incarcerated
and those on death row.
Using his skills as a lawyer he has made it a mission to assist
the young incarcerated and eliminate excessive and wrongful sentencing.
One of his successes includes exonerating condemned prisoners on death row.
Additionally an achievement of his organization was banning life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, imposed on convicted children.
During the lecture Bryan used insightfulness of a grandmother’s love to deliver a story. The is the fourth TED Commandment of “Thou Shall Tell A Story”.
DYNAMISM RATING: 4/5I would rate Bryan as a four because of his lack of voice inflection when moments of expression called for them.
He has a calm demeanor and a humbled speaking voice. The lecture he gave didn’t require much inflection.
Throughout the presentation Bryan seemed to lead into each area of the lecture with a lead in point
Being honest in what you do. His grandmother asked him in the story to never drink alcoholic beverages. So he didn’t. Throughout the presentation he moved the audience through the content of his lecture with leading statements.
After giving plenty of facts, to show some slides of kids incarcerated would have hit a home run.
Although as a presenter, you must display confidence and an even minded approach, you do not have to flamboyant to have the same effect on your audience,
His style seemed to be somewhat of a teaching style. Where he is the teacher and the audience are students. Give your audience something they have never heard of.
Sir Ken Robinson used a strange gait (at least I thought it was strange) and comedic style of capturing and keeping the attention of the audience during the lecture.
He constantly asked the audience questions or made comments that required some form of interactivity.
