WALKTHROUGH
Important Notes:
1. Make sure you are logged into the computer as Administrator or a user with local admin rights
2. To make sure that no other programs interfere with the installation, save your work and close all
programs
3. It is recommended that you print the instructions to use as a reference before proceeding with
installation.
Loading Instructions:
1. Review the available download, the bugs fixed, and the new features added
2. Create a folder. Extract/decompress the zipped archive into the folder you created
3. Turn off your Olevia TV with the master power switch located at the rear of the TV, adjacent to the
power cable
4. Connect the USB cable from your computer to the TV’s firmware update port
5. Set the master power switch, located at the rear of the TV, adjacent to the power cable, to the ON
position (the 1 should be pressed inward)
6. Through the Windows new hardware installation wizard, install the drivers located in the
MTK8202 USB2UART driver folder (ser2pl.sys from the folder you created in Step #2). There is no
need to check for Windows Updated drivers. You may get a warning message stating that the
drivers are unsigned. You must continue with the installation in order to proceed
7. Once the drivers have been successfully installed, open the interface tool (Mtk_DL_V1.4
A_20060601.exe)
8. Select the appropriate COM port from the pull-down menu on the interface tool (this can be
verified in the Windows Device Manager)
9. Press “Step 1” to begin the firmware installation process. (Step 1 removes the current firmware)
10. When Step 1 is complete, a message will prompt you to disconnect and re-connect the power
cable. Press OK
11. Press the power button on the main keypad located on the front of the TV.
12. Press “Step 2” (Step 2 installs the new firmware)
13. When prompted, disconnect and reconnect the power cable (or see the alternative to this from
STEP #10 above), then press OK
14. Press OK again, then close the interface tool
15. Firmware installation should now be complete. You can confirm this by checking the firmware
version in the OSD menu
***As an alternative to installing the drivers manually, you may be able to run the executable driver
installer from the MTK8208 USB2UART driver folder.
