ONE OF THE BIGGEST BENEFITS OF A SYSTEM 2.0 IS ITS ABILITY TO BE SET UP JUST ABOUT

ANYWHERE. LADIES AND GENTS LET US INTRODUCE FOX LAKES, THIS PLACE IS A HIDDEN GEM

Page 24: Wakepress, Issue 8

Hey Nico, f irst things f irst. .

Age? 19

Years r iding? 13

Sponsors? Monster Energy, L iquid Force, Sesi tec, UNIT Parktech, E lectr ic, 5 ive Skateshop

Ok, now we’ve got that out of the way; It ’s been a pretty good season for you this year, what was the highl ight for you?

The season was awesome indeed! One of the h ighl ights was the Sweden road t r ip that we did for my s i te. And I was rea l ly happy with how my event ‘Ca$h For Tr icks’ went, that was a h ighl ight as wel l !

What’s next in the big picture? I .e plans for 2013, anything excit ing?

I am actual ly gett ing rea l ly deep into thoughts about moving to Or lando next year. I f that works out 2013 should be another great year.

Are you going anywhere nice for winter?

Yes, back home to snowboard! Real ly looking forward to that , and for wakeboarding I wi l l go to the new cables in Phuket and Indonesia.

What do you get up to when you’re not r iding?

When I ’m home I do a bunch for Sesi tec and rev i ta l ize my body f rom the t r ips that I just came f rom. I pretty much keep mysel f busy a l l the t ime, last th ing I d id was the organis ing of ‘Ca$h For Tr icks’ .

What did you think to the UK in general, and the cable scene?

I think that Tim Woodhead is doing an amazing job in growing the scene with a lot of new parks. The UK trip this year was a lot of fun, especially when we all got together at Wakestock!

Worst injury?

ACL in 2010 and then meniscus one.. .

year af ter. Worst part about that is the deal ing with your head, t ry ing to not remember that .

Best win?

Wake the L ine 2011. That was insane. W inning in f ront of so many people cheer ing for you fe l t incredib le.

What inspires you the most?

I get a lot of inspi rat ion for r id ing f rom snowboarding and f rom looking at other wakeboarders and th ink ing about what I could do di fferent ly.

Where do you see wakeboarding in the future?

Wel l , an interest ing issue is i f i t might get into the Olympics. E i ther way, I th ink wakeboarding wi l l keep on growing a lot and there is st i l l a lot of potent ia l for more t r icks or gnar l ier ra i ls .

Hardest tr ick?

Actual ly I th ink Switch Back L ips are pretty hard somet imes. And of course, there is a lot of a i r t r icks that I can‘t do.

Final ly, you’re on a island, you have your board, a system 2.0 with obstacles, you can take 3 other objects, what are they?

One of the three th ings would be a love ly female, not say ing that I want to reduce women to objects. I would take my Sesi tec mult i tool and last ly a ton of books (count ing a ton as one object haha) to have something to do and th ink about.

I t ’s been a pleasure as always Nico, we hope to see you in the UK again soon!

I hope so too, rea l ly wanna come back asap!
