    31st Mar 2012. Wakefield's Ladies Team Finish 2nd at Northern 6-Stage RoadRelays.

The club had a near full strength Ladies team out for the Northern 6-Stage RoadRelay Championships, held at Sefton Park in Liverpool, to try and defend the titlethey won in such style last year. But with Julie Briscoe still struggling from thehamstring injury that has troubled her all winter, and Sarah Beevers also hamperedwith a calf injury, the girls couldn't quite repeat their triumph. However the team ofKatie McHale, Sarah Beevers, Jenny Latham, Julie Briscoe, Helen Singleton andCharlene Thomas all ran superbly to finish 2nd, and were only 36 seconds behindwinners Rotherham Harriers. Our 2009 UK 1500m Champion and Olympic hopefulCharlene Thomas was 2nd fastest overall, with her storming last leg run that broughtus from 5th into the medals, and Helen Singleton made up a lot of ground on leg 5,running the 5th fastest time of the day.The Men's team of Nathan Elliott, Jack Hallas, Pete McNamara, Paul Hallas, StephenTilford, Tony White, Hugh Allen, Martin Holding, Mark Whitehouse, Neil Dutton,Chris Ward & Alistair Robinson also did very well to come 34th in the high class 12-Stage field.
