THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL

    White House Watch

The Presidents Schedule At 11:05 AM, selfie pals President Obama and

Vice President Biden will welcome participants of the 7th

    annual Wounded

Warrior Projects Soldier Ride to the White House South Lawn.

Later, the Presidents day turns to health care with an 11:40 meeting with

representatives of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, and

then a 1:35 meeting with health insurance executives. Both of those last two

meetings will take place in the Roosevelt Room, with the Vice President

    present as well.

    Election Central

    Mike Hondas Vote-Getting

    Troubles Start at Home: His

    Home. California Rep. Mike

    Honda (D) is having enough

    trouble getting votes these days.

    On Tuesday, it was revealed

    Honda was losing yet another

    one: his own.

  • The San Francisco Gate reported Tuesday that the Golden State Democrat

cannot vote for himself, since 2010 redistricting placed Hondas home...

    in another congressional district.

Hondas house, congressional field office, and campaign office are all

located in the neighboring Democrat Zoe Lofgrens district. While this is

legal a candidate for U.S. House must live in the state he/she represents,

but nothing is mentioned of living in the district they hope to serve it just

adds to the list of problems Honda faces in running for an eighth term in

    Congress.

You can imagine how Hondas being a constituent of a different

Congressman could trouble some constituents, especially if his opponent

makes light of it. The Californian, whose office says has lived in the same

San Jose house for more than 40 years and has no plans of moving, faces

tough primary and general election fights.

The congressman finds a credible primary challenge in former Obama

Commerce Department official Ro Khanna, whose campaign for the seat is

staffed by many members of the Presidents two presidential election

victories. Khannas campaign chairman is top Obama bundler Steve Spinner,

and Obamas national field director, Jeremy Bird, is chief strategist, while

the media firm, pollster, and data-analytics team behind Obamas wins are

all aligned with the Khanna campaign as well. Hondas district is located in

a base of the presidents, which spells good news for Khanna. The district is

home to Apple, Cisco, Intel, and many other Silicon Valley tech businesses.

    Just not Mike Honda himself.

Is the Electoral College On Its Way Out? New York struck a blow to the

Electoral College as we know it Monday, handing another win to the

    National Popular vote group.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) approved legislation Monday signing New

York on to the National Popular Vote Compact. The compact only takes

effect when states totaling to 270 electoral votes sign on. So far, nine other

states have signed on, as well as the District of Columbia adding up to 136

electoral votes, just over halfway to the groups goal.

When it takes effect in states signed on, the National Popular Vote compact

will allow those states to give its electoral votes in any manner, as Article II

  • of the Constitution permits. Currently, the Empire State awards its electoral

votes to the winner of the states electoral votes, but Cuomo promised to

award them to the winner of the national popular vote, rendering the

Electoral College useless. But that only happens if enough states sign on,

and although many large ones have already, its going to be a long haul for

    supporters of the movement.

    Breaking News

    Noun

News being reported in real time, as the details are coming out. Usually very important and

unexpected news, that is just becoming known and unfolding quickly.

  • Example Breaking News:

    Example not Breaking News:

This is from CNN on Tuesday, employing the Breaking News banner for the 102nd anniversary

of the Titanics sinking. Really, people! Its the 102nd anniversary its been breaking news for the

past 102 years! CNN gets marks off here for the Breaking News story not being a very

important one, not an unexpected one (they couldnt have seen this anniversary coming for the

past 102 years?), and not one that is unfolding quickly and as they are reporting it.
