What’s Next:
Once again the Co-Chairs of this event did an outstanding job of decorating, organizing and creating an atmosphere of peace and joy. It is always the event many look forward to start their Christmas season of activities. The Log House was filled with Victorian toys, great smells of cooking from the fireplace and a wonderful array of stories from the “family” that was living there.The Farm House was decorated as a country family of the 19th century would have decorated it. And it was set for an open house of friends and visitors to arrive, with a dining table laden with sweets and drinks abounding.We had a “poet” in the attic, reading some of his poem’s and those from some of his contemporaries. The visitors enjoyed it immensely.

And Santa, what can I say. He was a delight as always. One of the children came running across the yard when they spotted him calling, “Santa, Santa, I’ve been looking for you!” Thanks to Henry and Dena Crawford, Cheryl Greaney, Dianne Moulton, Nancy Wisman, Linda Collins, John Ocwieja, Mary Minney, Kathy and Leslie Moskal, Dan Hovator, Brian and Sue Dewey, Roger Kerr, Tom Bertrand, Greg and Maria Schultz, Jim Hunt, Bob Zick, Cathy Gillem, Arlene and Ron Kaiser, Amanda Craig, Dawn and Carly Buckbinder, and all those who volunteered to be a part of this wonderful event.

Exterior of Farm House-EPA approved stripping of 130 plus years of lead paint accumulation. Prime coat and two finish coats of white paint were applied.Installation of 2” R-10-5 insulation under kitchen and woodshed crawl space. Replacement of rotted beam and floorboards of woodshed. Replacement of Cellar doors.5” eves trough and downspouts installed on Farm House.

Extensive Plaster Repairs, priming and painting of ceilings in dining room, sitting room, parlor, map room, children’s room, parent’s room, walls and ceilings of loom room and hallways and stairwell have been completed.
Photos and details of these and other ongoing projects will be on display at the May 15th Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation Social.

Quilt Raffle The WAHS is holding a quilt raffle at all of our events and throughout the year in conjunction with the Waterloo Needlework Club. The quilt will be on display during all events where you can purchase your tickets, or you may purchase a ticket from any of the WAHS Board Members. $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00. It is a “must see” quilt. A black and white photo does not do it justice.
Annual Meeting and Volunteer Appreciation Social
The WAHS annual meeting and fellowship will be held on Sunday, May 15 at the Waterloo Farm Museum outside the Hannewald Barn. The potluck luncheon will begin a 1pm followed by the meeting at 2pm.
Mark Twain is stopping by at 3 pm to entertain the members and guests.

Good Day Neighbor,
Hope to find you all doin’ well, winter’s on the downturn. They seem to go by faster every year, seasons I mean. Not that I miss winter’s cold grip when Spring comes, but I do take certain pleasures there. Biting cold days when just gettin’ the chores done is quite an undertakin’, but then gettin’ in by the fire and drivin’ out the chill is quite pleasurable. Smells of wood burnin’ in the stove and pleasin’ cookin’ aromas lingerin’ far beyond the delicious hot meal. Peaches from the pantry, tastin’ every bit as sweet as an August sunny afternoon.Gatherin’ around the pump organ, whole family singin’ and laughin’ at fun songs, or somberly shairin’ a hymn or two, thinkin’ of those we’ve lost, snugglin’ with the little ones until they fall asleep and rememberin’ to count our blessings.Or, sittin’ around with the boys and playin’ cards or dominoes, maybe with a glass of the orchard’s bounty, drawn from a barrel in the cellar.Winter ain’t so bad when you’re surrounded by loved ones, memories, and all God’s Bounty on this good earth.Rest well my friends, spring and all her hard work is on the way. Be blessed.
