55 Fructose Rework Pump Project
6/1/14 – 8/14/14WO #’s – 0126879-0126883
4
Progress
• Tuesday (7/29) the 2nd of 5 WO’s began (set and align pump/base)
• All work (minus electrical) to be completed by Wednesday 8/6
• New pump (PC4525) is already in ASAP
• Goal: up and running by 8/14
Task• Eliminate need for brewer
hoses for rework• Determine scope of
installing new rework pump• Size the pump and work
with contractors to get a new pump installed
• Learn the basics of capital project submission
• Install the pump/associated piping
Reality
• Worked with GPM, DL Jones and DTZ
• Repurposed unused pump (PC4207)
• Repurposed unused piping
• Not a capital job (5 work orders)
• $15K total
5
Opportunities
• Clear communication with vendors (GPM)
• Getting people involved at the right stages (accounting)
• Competitive bidding structure• Knowledge of available assets
Successes
• Pump-sizing know how• Competence in excel• Producing what is needed
(iso drawings, fitting list, calculations, etc.)
6
RFID Scanners7/1/14 – 8/14/14 and beyond
7
Progress
• Steve with Comet has provided a quote on a new scanner system ($50K) that is in place at Memphis, Eddyville, and Blair
• Working with Chad Koshiol, Scott Reiling and Brent Moore on communication issue
TaskDetermine and execute the correct method for regaining the functionality of our Refinery Loadout scanners
Reality
It has been determined that there are two problems: one with the hardware and one with communication• Chad Koshiol, Scott
Reiling, and Jarret Schulze have been consulted for direction
• Worked with Steve Swartz at Comet/SAIC and Chris Petermann at TranScore
8
Opportunities
• Found right people to get in touch with
• Persistence (4th teleconference with Chad/Refinery Loadout on 7/29)
• Problem solving strategy (i.e. start at the root of the problem…)
Successes
• Lack of RFID/instrumentation knowledge
• Execution of strategy (working in parallel v series)
• Timely execution• Tangible success
9
Jet Preheater Efficiency7/1/14 – 8/10/14
10
Progress
• Spreadsheet with proper densities, specific heat and flows has been put together
• Is still giving garbage numbers (7/28/14)
TaskDevelop an efficiency spreadsheet for the jet preheater (optimus prime) and recommend either caustic or citric for CIP
Reality
• One step forward, two
steps back• Due to positioning of flow
meters and bypass valves,
getting proper flows has
been a challenge• Collaboration with Carrie
for excel programming
work.
11
Opportunities
• Persistence• Calculations know-how
Successes • Calculations with
precision• Time spent v payback
(priorities)• Computer
programming/Macro and VBA in excel
12
Redline P&IDs/close out MOCs7/15/14 – ongoing
13
• Work through Refinery MOCs updating the P&IDs where needed
• MOCs: 58343, 61151, 50219, 61152, 63085, 63151, and 60546 (7/31)
