Wacky Earl Haig Assignment For this assignment, you will be creating a wacky version of Earl Haig. Everyone will be starting with the same picture, but from there things go a bit crazy. What if the school had elephants in front of it ? What if it were set up like a circus ? What if a helicopter were landing in front of it ? What carp fish were swimming up towards the building ? It is up to you to use your skills in Photoshop to create a realistic looking version of Wacky Earl Haig. Steps:
1. Planning stage: -‐ create 5 thumbnail images of possible
ideas. These images should be quick sketches and should all fit onto one blank sheet of paper. They should be labeled for clarification.
2. Production:
-‐ Based on one of your ideas, find images that you could use to bring into the Earl Haig picture. These images should be large enough so that they won’t turn to pixels if you need to resize them
-‐ when selecting the images to include, make sure that the lighting in your images will match the lighting in the photo that I am giving you. In particular, any shadows should be on the same side.
-‐ Open the Earl Haig image, which you will find in the Earl Haig > Pick-‐up > Mr. Joy folder. Create a folder on your home drive and save this image to that folder
-‐ Using Google images, find and download images that you want to use -‐ Open Photoshop and then go File > Open and find the Earl Haig image along with your Googled
images. -‐ Use the various selection tools to add new elements to the Earl Haig photo. -‐ Try to get your image to look as realistic as possible. You may have to add shadows or alter the
colour balance of your new elements to get them to match. -‐ Print out your finished image
3. Artist’s Statement -‐ Write a three paragraph Artist’s Statement. In the first paragraph, discuss the planning of your
idea. In the second paragraph, discuss the production of your idea. In the third paragraph, discuss what you learning or got better at and any problem/issues that you had to overcome.
