How to Throw a Jab The Jab is the most important punch that a competitive fighter must learn. The Jab is typically the non-dominant hand of the fighter, it is used to set up powerful punches and to keep your opponent off balance. The Jab is used as an offensive weapon as well as defensive weapon to counter punch your opponent.

2. How to Throw a Jab (Cont.) Prior to throwing a Jab, we must learn to position our feet correctly as depicted below, notice how the left foot is angled and the feet are shoulder width apart: 3. How to Throw a Jab (Cont.) Once our feet are in the correct position, the next stepis to bend our knees and to raise our hands to the on-guard position as demonstrated by the fighter below: 4.
