Dear Colleagues,

Alb-Shkenca Institute (IASH) is pleased to invite you to participate in its 5th International Annual Meeting to be held in Tirana, Albania, on September 2-5, 2010.

International Annual Meetings of IASH aim at promoting the current scientific findings and academic achievements. They intend to increase the cooperation amidst the Albanian researchers, scientists and experts wherever they are.

In addition, they aim at creating opportunities to strengthen the cooperation amidst IASH members and international institutions, building bridges and strengthening ties through participation in mutual projects.

Entitled “Integrating Diaspora in the Albanian Science, Economy and Culture,’’ the 5th

International Annual Meeting intends: to highlight the indispensable role of Diaspora in the past and present development of science in Albania, to promote new opportunities that will encourage a closer interaction between Albanian Diaspora and the Albanians in the Balkans, in the context of Euro-Atlantic integration challenges and the Globalization Era.

Ten independently organized Scientific Conferences will take place. Each conference consists of several symposiums/sessions.

Other activities: Meeting of the Board of Directors, Meeting of the General Administration General Meeting of IASH members. Social activities.

Official languages of the conferences are Albanian and English.

Authors are invited to submit their • most recent findings

Papers/Posters should be original, • not previously published, or in the process of publication elsewhere

Each author is limited to a • maximum of two papers at each conference and no more than a total of three papers

The author/ primary author must attend the conference, otherwise the papers will not be •considered for publication in the Proceedings of the International Annual Meetings (PIAM) journal of the Institute

The title of the presentation and an abstract with a • minimum of 150 words and a maximum of 250 words must be formatted according to the form given in page 10. Papers should be submitted online by May 15, 2010 to the email-address of the appropriate conference

It is impossible to delay the deadline for abstract submission since the abstracts will be •published in a special Book, which will be distributed to the participants in the meeting together with the “Proceedings” of the two Former Meetings

The abstract submitted should contain • the right name of the Symposium the author intends to participate

The abstract submitted must be in • Albanian or English. The text adheres to the stylistic and ASI requirements that will be announced at a later time

The conference is envisaged as a splendid opportunity to generate new project ideas and project proposals with the purpose of increasing diaspora’s integration in the field of economy, culture and science in Albania, Kosova and FYROM.

Conference participation requires that authors submit their project-ideas and project-draft proposals in advance, so that they undergo the selection process before being presented in one of the sessions of this conference (Economy, Culture, Science). To facilitate the discussion among the attendees roundtable discussions will be initiated. Invited guests will be government representatives from Albania, Kosova and FYROM and their working groups as well as private and NGO sector representatives and their working groups who will aim at launching action plans to boost cooperation.

Unlike the other conferences, the conference of Diaspora’s Integration requires not only the submission of the abstracts no later than June 30 but also the submission of the full version proposals in doc or PDF format as well as their Power Point presentation beforehand. The format for the draft proposal will be announced by the Conference Organizing Committee at another moment.
