AT the beginning of the year we were in serious financial straits. The Centre

Committee, hamstrung by this, adopted a policy designed to keep us going and to make ends meet without risk. These objectives have been achieved so to that extent we have been successful.. We can loolc -to the future with more confidence. The main events of 1965 were the midnight 1Utn show and the three sprints. The film show was the most successful so far and we must thank BobPbil1lps who did the organising. Bob i~ getting .ready for the 1966 show wbicb win agam be held at the Pavilion Cinema. Certainly, thu'Ie whn did the pre-event hard labour necessary to lay un the St. Atilancvents will not be entirely sorry to !laY J'al'I"WCU, although tl1lged with regn!t, for we hud some excellent Il'leetings th~e and made lotl> of friends; The venue became ;}vailablt to Uls at It time when tlwre was 'tttlc else alld tbe .avents held fitled a n.:nl m.~.l 110\'1 dimilll~hcd' with the advent pr tno;' L1andow cir..uit. It ha,. .llw4.l'S been C<'Il\re policy not to charge memrerl- nwre in fcl,,'i' than the minimum necessarjl; unfortunately there has been smail opportunity ,')f g.~tllIlg any spectator income,. If, In rh., coming M')al\()n at L1andow and othe~ events, members wiU give us maxtmum support (full entrj 11>;1>;), so that we can attract thepayjng spectator the' resulting benefits will be pa~sed on so as to substmtially offset the increased club subscription. This is a definite promise capable of fulfilment if we have your trust and maximum support.

Dear Dai. I write in great haste and amid COIl

siderable confuSion, baving moved house over the weekend, all paper work is bundled up and for the moment lost amid a varied collection of old menus, old wheels. grubby little packets of lighter flints! (I have always to buy a new packet when I need a flint), sundry nuts and bolts and a remarkable assortment of impedimenta which "will probably come in handy onc day"!

The packing, largely .accomplisbed by my good and kmg suffering wife, has gone on for some time intelllpersed with wearisome pleas of udo you reaDy .aeed these'l" whilst I have been enpged .in the daily grind and attempting to .complete a metaJn0rphoais of the new domain. I believe the rest of the Committee nave battled bravely on through a couple of Sprints and a barbecue and I have probably got a neat list of results somewhere. The removal of a Centre Secretary is quite an event and really ranks for the iliSue of a permit as a Sportinf Trial! I have been ojuite good, I feel I dId spend one weekend burning heaps of old correspondenco-Les Leston', brochures. etc.

In addition about five years' coptd of " Autoc.&r" went in the dustbin &UKI. a

reclainu.ldA.30 . engine and · gearbox, stripped and awaiting my deft reassembly these last 12 months, went for the taking; you cannot part with such old friends WIthout a wrench, and so the Hesketh Special, whietl was to make such a Centreshaking debut one day. is as far away as ever,

So far as Centre events are concerned I gather the really big do oC the season is going to be the September Sprint which Wlll be held on thencw Llandow circuit. I should be about again by then and will look out for you.
