This last year has seen some changes in our programs and events, some losses and some gains. While we have seen the Roast Beef Dinner and the Ride of Splendor either disappear or take a sabbatical we have seen the return of other events such as the Holly Tea. While we have added some new programs such as Emergency and Telemedicine to our repertoire of services we have work to do in reviving some other services such as our Evening Nourishment Program. These event are all highlights of a dynamic organization that flows and changes with time. But one thing that does not change is the strength of our membership and their willingness to volunteer their time and skills to support the work of our hospital.
This work has resulted in the equivalent of about 10 full time staff positions donated to the hospital plus over $30,000 in equipment and upgrades over the last year. You are all to be congratulated for this.
We will continue to evolve and change with the times. One change coming soon will arrive with our new web site, which will be launched with months, in conjunction with the new hospital and foundation sites. With this new site we will be better able to communicate both with our members and the wider community. As we embrace the wider world of social media we open a new window for our Auxiliary to both attract new members, highlight our work both in support of the hospital and promote our fundraising events. I hope you will like the new look and feel of our site and will help us keep it current.
And we cannot forget that we will be hosting the regional HAAO fall conference on 21 October. It is a chance for all of us to shine in front of our fellow auxiliary members.
This is my final report as president. The last two and a bit years that I have had the honour of being your president have at times been interesting, frustrating, challenging but mostly an enjoyable ride. The things I have learned along the way and the friendships I have made have certainly made this a most memorable period for me. As I turn the reins over to Marg LeBlanc I want to thank you all for your patience and support. Special thanks goes out to Marg LeBlanc, Jean Jones, and Toni Surko for all your assistance and advice along the way.
Thank you all.

CPDMH 60th Birthday Family Day
At least 20 of our members volunteered their time to help the hospital
with its 60th birthday party.
While a team lead by Marg Burnett never stopped cooking hamburgers and hot dogs until they ran out of food, other members were helping with face painting, “smor” cooking, minnow racing and cupcake decorating, to name a few things. It was a wonderful and most successful day for local families and aside from the wind the weather cooperated. It did not start to rain until clean-up began.
Thanks to all who helped make this day a success. And to top it off, the BBQ netted over $500.
CPDMH Auxiliary is Hosting HAAO Ontario East - Fall Conference
If you are not aware of the HAAO regional Conferences or have never been to one this is your chance to get involved and find out what they are all about. In the spring and the fall regional conferences are organized to provide a day of learning and camaraderie for all the Auxiliary members from Ontario East Region….from Deep River to Cornwall. Perth to the Quebec boarder will be coming to visit us so it is a time to show off.
Planning is well underway for this event being held on 21 October at St James Parish Hall but we need the help of our members to make this day a success. There are a number of duties that need doing , many that will only take one day of your time. Tasks include help with preparing and serving the arrival breakfast, decorating tables, receiving/registering visitors, help with gift shop and 50/50 ticket sales.
If you are interested in lending a hand in hosting our fellow Auxilians this fall please contact the Auxiliary Office and leave your name.
As part of the attraction for this event we will be raffling off 5 or 6 baskets of goodies and are looking for items to put in them. Anyone with items they are willing to donate to the cause can drop them off at the gift shop office for Marg LeBlanc.
Congratulations
