Our HistoryThe Winter Gardens first opened its doors to the public on 14th July 1927 by Earnest Palmer, Deputy Chairman of the Great Western Railway. It became the focal point of the community who for many years dined, danced and socialised there. In 1950 the magnificent sea facing columns were filled in to provide space for a café area that is still in existence today and lights were installed on the Dome as part of the sea-front illumination.
In 1989 The Winter Gardens closed for a multi-million pound development. A complete refurbishment and extension into the new Town Square Gardens transformed the building into the one it is today. Whilst still retaining the classic 1920s grandeur, the venue now boasts an extensive modern
Conference and Entertainment facility.From 2011, The Winter Gardens will be under the management of Parkwood Leisure, who also operate the leisure facilities in North Somerset. Additional investments will be made that include a new seafront café and integrated Tourist Information Centre, offering unbeatable accommodation rates and tickets for local attractions.
The seafront bar will be upgraded along with investment into the banqueting kitchen to enhance the efficiency of large scale catered events. These exciting renovations matched with our dedicated and experienced team, will ensure that The Winter Gardens maintains its reputation as one of the finest conference centres in the South West.

The Ashcombe and Clarence suites are the more intimate suites within the venue, making them perfect for meetings and team based work. They offer wireless internet access, adjustable lighting, level access and carpeted floor. As they have no fixed furniture they can be transformed into a range of styles identical to the Grove Suite.

Prince Consort HallThe Prince Consort Hall is the second largest suite on offer at The Winter Gardens. It can be used in its entirety, or split into two equal halves. Protected by sound proofed dividing screens, the suite allows smaller parties to take advantage of its original character and charm, which has been protected through various renovations.
Over time the Prince Consort suite has emerged as a contemporary function space with a range of facilities to suit a variety of needs.
This modern and thoroughly versatile space is a wonderful setting for larger conferences and exhibitions, as it can hold up to 600 delegates. The adjoining lounge bar makes an ideal delegate registration area.
Tasteful and well appointed, the Prince Consort Hall offers a range of AV facilities that one would expect from a suite of this magnitude; extended ceiling height, floor to ceiling sound proof dividing screens, three dressing
rooms and a hydraulic stage that includes eight set height points ranging from 0 - 1.085m.
Other facilities on offer include wireless internet, a ceiling mounted multimedia projector and a drop down screen. These additional attributes ensure we keep our promise to provide a range of quality products that will exceed all expectations.

Room style and size:
This opulent and elegant Ballroom, dating back to 1927, boasts a domed ceiling that reaches 40ft at its highest point. The elegant arched windows offer panoramic views across Weston Bay and bring an abundance of natural daylight to the room, showing off its stunning features.
The Ballroom is the largest suite within the building with a capacity of 600, it can also accommodate 550 delegates seated for dinner. The beautifully decorated venue offers space for a stage and a variety of sound and lighting choices, all of which guarantee that the room can be dressed to match your requirements.
The Ballroom includes a vertical platform lift for accessible use; a wooden sprung dance floor and stage making it a wonderful setting for award ceremonies, evening dinners and dances. The main floor is surrounded by a series of commanding columns and arches that mirror the window design. Thus making the ballroom a truly iconic setting, hard matched for visual impact.

Dining and EntertainmentThe quality of food and beverage service delivered at The Winter Gardens reinforces the high levels of flexibility and diversity provided to delegates.
In addition to the banqueting kitchen where a range of delegate menus are on offer for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the venue also boasts three additional dining areas. The View Bar with its seafront position, The Prom Café, The Vineyard Bistro and garden patio all offer a differing dining experience.
The Winter Gardens is able to offer 'any of these facilities for private hire' with flexible dining to suit your need for every occasion. We can offer a selection of hot and cold buffets, hog roasts, barbeques and a vast range of dinner menus.
As a licensed venue we can also arrange for a private bar facility to be provided for your event.
If there is a style of dining that is not mentioned in this brochure, or you wish to create a bespoke themed menu to suit your event, our head chef would be delighted to cater to your requirements.

Vineyard Café and Bars
The View Bar offers affordable family focused dining with a fantastic terrace overlooking Weston Bay. The bar promises a relaxing experience with an extensive range of freshly cooked food, including breakfast, light bites and main meals such as traditional fish and chips or a steak cooked fresh from our grill.
All food can be served with a selection of refreshing beers, wines or cocktails served by the glass, bottle or pitcher for delegates to enjoy. Alternatively you can try The View's speciality coffees & pastries which can be enjoyed as a mid-morning or afternoon snack. It's also a great place to venture for a cold beer after a long conference! The Prom Café and Tourist Information Centre offers a one stop shop to enjoy a freshly brewed coffee with a range of delicious cakes, pastries or ice cream. There is also a selection of brochures on local attractions and activities to enjoy during your stay.
The Vineyard Bistro provides delegates with an extensive selection of homemade lunch options that can be served with a range of speciality coffees or other beverages from our licensed drinks list. The Vineyard is also renowned locally for its wonderful selection of tasty cakes and pastries served fresh to your table.
If delegates would like to add on a visit to the famous Playhouse Theatre, we can also offer a range of Table d'hôte pre-theatre dining menus, served in a private suite for your guests.
The Vineyard Bistro boasts its own Italian garden and outdoor terrace. It is located opposite the Sovereign shopping centre and is close to the high street, making it ideal for any keen shoppers.

Tourist Information Centre
From April 2011 The Winter Gardens will house the North Somerset Tourist Information Centre. Integrated into our Prom Café, the Tourist Information Centre offers a diverse range of information on everything you could wish to know about Weston-super-Mare and its surrounding area.
Conference organisers will find this facility extremely helpful when trying to arrange everything from activities, transport, entertainment and accommodation. Delegates will have the opportunity to review what is on offer in the area around your conference or event schedule and could even plan their next visit with friends or loved ones.
Our helpful and knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to assist you by arranging your accommodation while visiting The Winter Gardens. There is a wide range of accommodation on offer in the area, and our team will be able to advise you of the most appropriate to suit your delegate numbers and profile.

By RoadWeston-super-Mare is just four miles from junction 21 of the M5 motorway. From the motorway exit follow signs to Weston-super-Mare along the dual carriageway link road (A370) until you reach the town centre. The Winter Gardens is clearly signposted as you reach the town centre, directing you along the seafront.
Parking is easy at The Winter Gardens with a choice of two car parks.
The Sovereign Centre indoor car park is adjacent to the venue with spaces available for up to 900 cars.
Just a few hundred yards up the sea front is the Melrose Car Park with parking spaces for up to 205 cars.
There is also a limited amount of free parking for conference organisers to drop off and load equipment. These will need to be reserved in advance of arrival with your event organiser.

By Air
Weston-super-Mare railway station is situated in the town centre just a few minutes walk or a short taxi ride from The Winter Gardens. There are direct services to and from London, the South West and the Midlands. For train times telephone (08457) 48 49 50
Weston-super-Mare is just 13 miles from Bristol Airport. If you have delegates attending on either domestic or international flights they can be with you at The Winter Gardens within twenty minutes of leaving the airport.
