In our Gospel today, Jesus encourages us to Be watchful! Be alert! What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!'" Another acceptable translation of this Sundays Gospel is, Take heed, watch and pray for you do not know when the time will come(Mk 13:33). Romans 6:10 Without prayer it is impossible to keep our hearts anchored to Gods will for us. As we pray in the Our Father: Thy will be done, nothing would please Him more, nothing brings more healing to the world or comfort to our souls than the will of God. We do not have to go to a hermitage or participate in an Ignatian silent retreat for the next four weeks, but there are many things we can do to prepare for Christ to be born in our hearts once again this Christmas: Pray a decade of the rosary. Take 10-15 minutes each day and get to know Jesus more by reading Scripture or a spiritual book (for example, The Living Gospel, our parish Advent book, located in the gathering space). This Week-

    1st Sunday of Advent:

    Watch!

This week we begin Advent, a season of preparation for the

Lord’s arrival at Christmas. Though Advent is often a joyous season, it is also intended to be a period of prayer, penance, and fasting. In our Gospel today, Jesus encourages us to “Be watchful! Be alert! What I say to you, I say to all: 'Watch!'" Another acceptable translation of this Sunday’s Gospel is, “Take heed, watch and pray for you do not know when the time will come” (Mk 13:33). We do not know the day or the hour that Christ will come again or when He will call us into His presence for our particular judgment, but being watchful means that we should be constantly striving to fulfill God’s will in our lives.

    Romans 6:10

Without prayer it is impossible to keep our hearts anchored to God’s will for us. Take 10-15 minutes each day and get to

know Jesus more by reading Scripture or a spiritual book (for example, The Living Gospel, our parish Advent book, located in the gathering space).

    WAYS TO CONNECT

Father’s will. As He prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me yet not as I will, but as you will.” A little later on He prayed again, “My father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done.” Indeed, these prayers reveal Jesus’ total submission to the will of God. During this Advent let us renew our commitment to be watchful in prayer and vigilant in carrying out the Fathers will. Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, pray for us!

  • Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need, may

they find consolation in your healing presence. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the

Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.

Please pray an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be for the

following parishioners and their families, and always keep all

    families in your prayers.

    PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR PRIESTS

“Jesus, Eternal High Priest, live in (Name of Priest), act in

him, speak in and through him. Think your thoughts in his

mind, and love through his heart. Teach, lead, and guide

him always. Let him live in you, and keep him in this

    intimate union always. Amen.”
