simply depress the rear seat fold-over switch to open upan even larger luggage area.

06 2-zone electronic climate control with automatic air circulation: Every aspect of the atmosphere inside the New Passat can be set to suit personal tastes. The 2-zone electronic climate control allows the driver and the front passenger to adjust the controls individually, enabling them to choose their own separate temperatures. The air quality sensor automatically switches to

recirculation when outside air- conditions are even slightly less than optimum. This attentionto clean air is enhanced by the inbuilt pollen filter and active charcoal deodoriser.

Which is why, the front seats have built-in, fully adjustable, active air-conditioning that circulate warm or cool air directly to the persons occupying them, further enhancing individualised comfort. Park Assist: This innovation provides a truly breathtaking driving experience: hands-free reverse parking. Once activated, Park Assist detects a suitable parking space for either reverse or parallel parking. Having put the vehicle into reverse,all the driver has to do is operate the accelerator and brake, while keeping a good lookout. The New Passat then takes control of the steering and manoeuvres into its chosen space. Park Assist can even park in tight spaces with a clearanceof just 40 cms on either side. Dents, while parking, are now a thing of the past.

01 Attention Assist: While the New Passat does all in its power to pamper you, it is also committed to keeping you safe. The Attention Assist feature,for instance, makes sure you stay fully alert at all times when you drive. Attention Assist first identifies yourinitial steering pattern. Any varianceto this pattern caused by drowsinessor lack of attention is picked up by the system. It then gives off a warningchime accompanied by a flashing icon on the dashboard. This is adequate warning for you to be alert again and better still, take a break from driving.

02 ABS: Everything about the New Passat aims for utmost safety. The ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) is a fine example. This reliable technology ensures the wheels never jam or skidout of control after sudden braking.This makes it easier to steer to safety and avoid impact.

03 ESP: An important safety feature is the Electronic Stabilisation Programme. This intuitive feature automatically detects critical driving situations that pose a threat. For example, makinga tight turn at excessive speeds,an unexpected change in road surface (water, oil) or a sudden evasive

manoeuvre. The EPS then implements effective counter-measures automatically to prevent the vehiclefrom being de-stabilised.

04 RCD 510 premium multimedia system: This state-of-the-art entertainment system addsconsiderably to the New Passat experience. It is composed of a responsive 6.5 inch, full colour touch screen with an MP3 player, 6-disc changer, 8 speakers, USB input, SDcard reader and a Bluetooth interface. What’s more, the controls are on the steering wheel itself so thatyour eyes never need leave the road.

05 Optical parking display: This is anifty little innovation that makes a big difference when reverse parking.The optical parking display is configuredto a rearview camera. While reversing, the display provides a visual representation of the car’s surroundings and makes parking even in tightspots easy.

02 Auto start-stop:Whenever you stop at a redlight or in a traffic jam, the New Passat’s engine is automatically turned off when you take yourfoot off the clutch. And in the case of the DSG transmission,when you take your foot off theaccelerator. Then, when youdepress the clutch again, (or theaccelerator in the DSG) theengine restarts automatically.In the process, you automaticallysave precious fuel.

03 Brake energy recuperation:Every time the car brakes,kinetic energy is converted into electricity and stored in thebattery. Which means, just theact of braking recharges thebattery. Now, the more youbrake, the further you can go.

Gear shift indicator:This feature in the New Passat prevents energy loss whileshifting gears. It does this by recommending the optimumtime for you to shift a gear.The result is a most satisfyingfuel efficiency.

01 Engine: At the heart of the New Passat lies the advancedTDI engine, characterised by key benefits like fuel economy, low emissions and high pulling power. It delivers a pulse-racing 170 PS (125 kW) of power and generates a torque of 350 Nm @ 1750-2500 rpm. To ensure that this power never affectsthe silence inside the cabin,the New Passat has effective engine encapsulation which ensures the engine noise is kept to a minimum. The hydraulic engine mounts ensure smooth, low-vibration running.

02 DSG Gear shift: The New Passat comes with a fully automatic 6-speed DSG (dual shift gearbox). When a gear change is made, the next gear is already pre-selected but not yet engaged. The intelligent gearbox thus makes sure there’s no interruption in power flow during the shifting. The DSG can either be operated manually or by means of the steering-mounted paddle shifters. In automatic mode though, the driver has a choice between a well-balanced comfort setting and a higher - performance sport setting.

03 Manual shift: The New Passat also offers a smooth-shifting 6-speed Manual Transmission for enthusiasts who like driving the old-fashioned way. The highlight of this gearbox is thatit offers two overdrive ratios on the 5th and the 6th gears. So that, as fuel-efficiency and emissions get optimised, driving pleasure gets maximised. The Manual Transmission is available only with the Trendline variantof the New Passat.

Volkswagen Roadside Assistance: Every new car is registered forVolkswagen India Roadside Assistance for two years from its dateof sale.
