What is VT YouthWorks?
● VT YouthWorks is a training program that helps local partners create meaningful, demand-driven career pathways for Vermont youth.
● Our mission is to enable youth 18 - 24 to become well educated, skilled and self-sufficient community members with a sustainable career pathway. Youth engage with a collaborative framework that delivers coordinated adult education, workforce preparation, workforce training and professional mentoring.
● Each individualized student program is designed to meet the educational and training requirements for a specific occupational skill or career pathway and may include local adult educators, technical instructors, employment specialists, professional mentors and employers.
● Community partners are engaged concurrently to provide contextual and occupationally relevant instructional materials, training and support organized to function cooperatively with a single set of learning outcomes.
VT YouthWorks Goals for FY 19
1. Facilitate the entrance of 25 underemployed, out of school 18-24 year old youth per year into the workforce or secondary/post secondary education
2. Offer an employment pathway and structure with a single point of entry and multiple exits
3. Create a WIOA IET compliant program to ensure ongoing funding
4. Build partnerships among support services, employers, mentors and Addison County 18-24 year olds which serve to meet local employment needs
