definitions
Voyeurism: the pleasure of looking at real people (characters), eg reality TV
Panopticanisation: the idea that the power lies with the watcher and that those under surveillance must act as if they are being watched all the time. Foucault
Scopophillia: love of looking/pleasure gained from watching others. Often sexual gazing at women by Hollywood.

Task
Why are these text considered postmodern?
H/W Find two additional examples of voyeuristic media text and post them up to your blog. Under each explain how they use voyeurism to engage the audience. If it’s a reality show explain how panopticanisation applies.
Self-reflexivity
LO: To explore the term with reference to postmodern media text.
Self-reflixivity
marked by or making reference to its own artificiality or contrivance
where a text knows it's a text and draws attention to it's structure, production and/or conventions to the audience. In doing so, it reverses itself reflecting its own reality rather than an outside one.
Characters/actors often address the camera, thereby breaking down the fourth wall.
