RESIDENTIAL WASTE ONLY & RECYCLING ACCORDING TO PROCEDUREEstimated Cost: $492

Set up:2 64-Gallon Heavy Duty Waste Bins (available at Lowes, $73 each plus 3.5% tax): $1522 Plastic recycling enclosure (Rubbermaid 3747, Model # FG374801OLVSS, Available at Lowes at $165.05 plus tax): $340(We could continue to use 1 of the red waste bins that we currently have for mix recyclables. No plastic bags in or on the container.For paper, we could continue to use the bins that we have, and just ask that each one of us breaks down big boxes. Twine could bemade available in the container).

Two 64-gallon Toter Waste Bins will give us the same volume capacity that we currently have in more efficient,organized and cleaner ways. There are 65-gallon capacity plastic bags that fits them and are readily available. Thebins offered by Lowes are green like the ones bellow.

RECYCLING JERSEY-CITY STYLE

- Contrary to our current practice, mixed recyclables (cans, bottles, plastics) are supposed to be left in a containerby the curb, not in a plastic bag.

- Paper should be left in a container or bundled.This means we would have to be responsible for brining the containers back into the building after pick up day.

STEP 1:

Don't put your recyclables in plastic bags.

Putting recyclables in plastic bags seriously hinders the recycling process.

Put all recyclables in large plastic containers or any other large reusable containers, such as large garbage pails.

STEP 2:

Combine milk/juice cartons and drink boxes with plastics, not paper.

Combine these items with plastics, glass, and cans -- not paper items. (See chart)

Simply separate all your recyclables into 2 categories:
