Volvo 1979This year Volvo is celebrating its 51st year ofbuilding quality cars. During this period the VolvoCompany has acquired the experience and expertisewhich has allowed it to become the largestengineering concern in Scandinavia. Today, thisskill has been translated into a quality of designand a standard of workmanship which makes theVolvo range of cars unique in a world of massproduction. The 1979 Volvos again demonstrateVolvo's singular commitment to providing themotorist with products that are built to withstandthe test of time whilst offering outstanding value-for-money.

The Volvo philosophy of product development isnot one of change for change's sake. Quite thecontrary, Volvo believe that quality, safety, relia-bility and comfort are more important than merelybeing fashionable. Thus, Volvo make strongdemands on their component suppliers. There areexacting quality control procedures. Rigid inspec-tions at the factory gate and continuous qualitycontrol checks at every stage of production.(Incidentally AB Volvo is the United Kingdom'sbiggest overseas customer for automotive parts.In 1977 alone Volvo purchased £72 million ofmaterial from over 230 UK companies.) Behind thesupply and production lines Volvo carry out acontinuous programme of research and develop-ment. This is to ensure that Volvo products meetnot only today's safety standards but those likelyto exist in ten years time. There are over 1000technicians and researchers at the Volvo TechnicalCentre whose sole function is to ensure that theVolvo customer receives the highest possiblestandard of engineering.

For 1979 we have a comprehensive product range.The Volvo 343DL in both manual and automaticversions. The Volvo 244 saloon range, offering awider choice of engine and specifications throughthe 244DL, the new 244GL and 244GLE. Then thereare the famous Volvo estate cars-the 245DL and245GLE. At the top of the Volvo range are theluxurious 260 Series Cars-the 264GL and GLEsaloons ; the 265GL and GLE estate cars. The newexclusive limited edition 262 coupe is added for1979.

The Volvo 200 series estatecars are world famous.

All models carry five peoplein supreme comfort and stillcarry all the luggage in the43 cu. ft. of space behind therear seats. With the rear seatfolded, there is 70 cu. ft. of

space and a platform over 6'long.

There are four estate carmodels to choose from, allwith identical carrying capa-city. Vinyl upholstery isoptional on all models.

Volvo 245DL2.1 litre carburettor 4 cylinderengine, 107hp (DIN). Fully car-peted, cloth upholstery, withmatching cargo area carpet-ing. Specification also in-cludes halogen headlights,headlamp wiper/washers, rearwiper/wash, tachometer.
