MY OBSERVATIONSAFTER 30 YEARS WITH AWWA
• Water profes s ionals are some of the bes t colleagues and friends you can get – approachable, humble, and knowledgeable
• We all s trive to make a difference in the world by protecting public health and the environment
• Learn from failures , value succes ses , and be pers is tent• Do not expect s imple answers• Leverage your own ta lent – it takes a village to solve complex problems• Stick to s cientific and ethical integrity
YOUR TURNHOW YOU CAN SHAPE THE FUTURE OF WATER
• Be ready to learn from and contribute to committees and divisions of TEC• Find ways to connect TEC committees to the AWWASections• Get involved with innovations in the water s ector• Open to new ideas on Total Water Solutions , Sus ta inable Infras tructure,
Climate Res ilience, Innovative Financing, and other non-traditional solutions
• Most of the jobs that will exist in the near future have not been invented yet
