DESCRIPTION

Why Do We Do It? It's time consuming, stressful, it takes time away from your job or family. Often it costs actual money! Why do so many people donate their time, energy and efforts anyway? Nearly one out of three adults regularly spends some time volunteering. - University of Minnesota

The Value of Volunteerism

Value to Ourselves

Value to Organizations

Value to the Community

Value to MCWT

There is no higher calling than when a person gives his

or her own knowledge, skills, time or resources

to someone in need of help or comfort. This is

the fundamental principle of

volunteerism- American Red

Cross

Value to the CommunityChange at the community level requires far more

reach and resources than any organization can provide.

Voluntary service is the heart of community-building. It encourages people to be responsible citizens and make a

difference. It enhances social solidarity, social capital and quality of life in a

society. It is a means of social inclusion and integration.

It makes the impossible possible…
