Volunteer Program Policy Statement

Volunteers are integral part in the fulfillment of the Vision and Mission of the organization that is geared

towards the empowerment of the families and communities. FCED recognizes that volunteers impart their time ,

effort, talent, knowledge, skills and commitment to the achievement of the goals and these valuable contributions

provide impact and change to the lives of individuals, families and communities. Hence, FCED supports the

development of volunteers.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Volunteer Child Development WorkerMajor Objective:

To increase child development index through growth stimulating sessions to children ages 0-5 yearsold and support sessions for childrens development.

Reports to: ECCD Program Coordinator

Duties and Responsibilities:- Keeps an updated masterlist of children from CCF families ages 0-5- Encourage parents to enroll their children to attend SNP- Advocate on the importance of early childhood care and development- Assess the children using the ECCD checklist- Prepare session plans

- Facilitates Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNP) Home Based ECCD to each child at least twice a week; two sessionsare done per half day- Monitor the growth and development of the children and reports delay about the developmental tasks- Facilitates sessions with parents from time to time to address the need for proper parental care.- Prepare and submit simple reports and accomplishments.Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:- CCF Child Protection Policy- ECCD Law, Child Development Principles, SNP- Communication (Verbal and Written) and Facilitating Skills- Child Friendly and can deal appropriately with young children- Dedication and willingness to help children- Literate- Physically Fit

Time Commitment:- Reports to ECCD program coordinator at least once in a month and upon request of the coordinator. The activities ofthe Volunteer Child Development Workers are done four times in a week. Two sessions are conducted within the day.

____________________________Behavior Protocols/ Code of Conduct

Personnel should not take a child or children into a private place out ofview of other adults. Agency staff members are encouraged to be accompanied by parents/ legal guardianand/ or community members on visits with children.

All staff, board/advisory council members and volunteers/interns whohave contact with children, or sensitive information about children, are to be informed of the organizationschild protection policies and standards. Agency staff members are required to acknowledge receipt andunderstanding of the agencys standards and policies.

Agency personnel and sponsors must not stay alone with one or more

children who are not part of their immediate or extended family, whether in their house, project premises orelsewhere.

Agency personnel must behave in an appropriate and culturally sensitiveway. They must not inappropriately touch children.

Where possible and practical, the two-adult rule, wherein two or moreadults supervise all activities where children are involved and are present at all times, should followed.

Agency personnel need to be aware that they may work with childrenwho, because of the circumstances and abuses they may have experienced, may use a relationship to obtainspecial attention. The adult is always considered responsible for maintaining an appropriate relationship,even if a child behaves inappropriately. Adults should not place themselves in compromising or vulnerablepositions.

Inappropriate behavior toward children, including failure to follow theagencys behavior protocols, policy and standards is grounds for discipline, up to and including dismissal fromemployment, volunteer/ internship or board/ advisory council membership.
