We offer three basic types of reusable glass pipets: volumetric, serological, and mohr. Volumetric pipets are used to deliver the stated amount of solution only. They are not graduated and therefore cannot be used to deliver a lesser amount. Since they are calibrated “to deliver” they are not to be blown out.

WIDE-TIP SEROLOGICAL PIPETS - GLASSReusable glass with wide-tip openings. Calibrated to the tip. We recommend the wide tips for BOD seeding, fecal coliforms, and any other procedure that deals with particulates in the solution. The wide tips allow you to obtain a more representative sample if there are particulates present, and are less likely to clog.

MOHR & SEROLOGICAL PIPETS - GLASS

Mohr pipets are graduated, but are not calibrated to the tip. Therefore, the pipetting procedure must be stopped at the bottom line in order to deliver the correct amount. Mohr pipets must not be blown out. Mohr pipets can be used to deliver amounts up to their stated capacity. Remember, if you blow

out a Mohr pipet, you will get more than you’re supposed to.
