Traffic Safety Awareness Drive

Rotary Chandigarh Midtown in association with Chandigarh Traffic Police organised the First Phase of Traffic Safety Awareness Drive opposite the Government College for Women in Sector 11, Chandigarh. In this drive 20 helmets were distributed to Women Two wheeler riders and pillion. The riders were made aware about the traffic rules and safety. The benefits of wearing helmet were well explained to them. The women riders already following the helmet rule were given gifts as an appreciation gesture.

Present on this occasion were President Ashok Puri with First Lady R'ann Sudha Puri, PE Salil Dev Bali, PP BL Ramsisaria, PP Indrajeet Sengupta, PP Vinod Jawa, PP Deepak Sood, PP Amarjit Singh, IPP Dr Rita Kalra, Jt. Secretary Nitin Kapur, DYS Kulbir Bhatia, Rtn Shashi Jain, Rtn Suman Gupta with Mr NK Gupta and Rtn Kulvinder Singh.

DSP Traffic (East) Mr Jaswinder Singh, Traffic in charge Ms Sita and team of 15 constables were operating under the guidance and orders of SSP Traffic Mr Shashank Anand, who appreciated the role of Rotary in a telephone conversation with PP Deepak Sood. This drive was successful not only in imparting traffic safety laws and rules, but also created a good public image of Rotary amongst general public.

Dental camp at Guru Aasra, Palsora

Smile express conducted dental checkup and treatment for 30 inmates of Guru Asra. A talk on oral hygiene and brushing method was conducted by Gurbinder Singh and IPP Dr Rita Kalra. President Ashok Puri and First Lady R’ann Sudha brought fruits and biscuits for children and Rtn Indu Luthra brought hot tea for all the volunteers. Tooth paste, brushes and Soya crackers for children were sponsored by Rtn Dr Sanjay Kalra.

The Rotary Singer India centre for tailoring and sewing started at Guru Aasra in Palsora was visited and students were very excited to show their stitched clothing and were happy to get training at the centre. The Delhi team of Singer shall visit soon to regularize their support in terms of trainer salary, certificate, curriculum etc. The training centre has been opened for ladies of the village. A small outlet to display and sell finished clothing prepared by students and tailoring centre will soon be operational thus providing financial aid to girls.
