CELEBRATIONS We celebrate Doug Lea’s continuing recovery and pray for the treatments he will be receiving in the coming year. We celebrate with Nichole Scates who had baby, Knox, on 12/23. Knox weighed 3lbs, 5ozs and is still in the hospital, mother is at home. Nichole is the niece of Jessie Matthews and Doll Burk. Congratulations! The members of our Youth Orchestra did a wonderful job, under the direction of Craig Pratt, sharing their gifts and talents with the church at our traditional service this last Sunday.

BUY A BOOK I have a friend named Elmo Mercer, from my home town of Winnfield, LA, who has just published his autobiography "Each Step I Take" about his life and work in the music writing and publishing of Christian hymns and songs of faith. This book is titled after his first published song that he wrote at age 14. I remember Elmo playing the grand piano at the First Baptist Church of Winnfield, as a youngster, and wow, could he play. He has published over 1,000 hymns and songs, which he written about in this book. He is a very interesting story teller, all of which are true life experiences. If you would like to purchase a copy, Mail your check to: W. Elmo Mercer, 301 Forrest Valley Drive, Nashville, TN 37209. The cost of the book is $24.98 including shipping. Allen Swilley
