Volume XVIII No. 1984 Pentecost Sunday June 09, 2019
Dear Parishioners of St. Paul's,
I want to thank you for your love and support throughout these seven years of seminary. Having attended St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church since my family moved to Houston when I was 4, St. Paul, for me, was not only "a" Church. It was "The" Church.
This is where I first went to Confession. This is where I first received the Eucharist. This is where I received my Confirmation. This is where I served my first Mass. This is where I encountered God most intimately and where I encountered others most meaningfully.
The first time I came back to St. Paul after going away to seminary in Dallas, it felt like home. And it has felt that way every time I have returned since. I could never recreate that somewhere else. I'm just grateful I have it here.
I can't thank you enough for your generosity in welcoming me back for my First Mass and celebrating with me. St. Paul always has been, and always will be, my home. Thank you for preparing me to be a priest in this life, so that I can spend that life, preparing others for the life to come. You will be in my prayers.
Much Love, Fr. David Michael Moses

LITURGY AND MUSIC ~ LITURGIA Y MÚSICA Joyce Lubofsky
281-333-3891 X333
The Instructional Masses The last Instructional Masses will take place the weekend of June 15/16, and discuss the role of music in the Mass.
Celebration of Corpus Christi 6/23 Due to the very late date of Easter, and therefore, of Corpus Christi, and the intense heat of late June in Texas, there will NOT be an outdoor procession this year. Instead, we will gather in Founders Hall at 10:30 AM and process into the Church with the Blessed Sacrament for a bilingual Holy Hour.
Diaconate Preparation of Tom Spicer St. Paul’s parishioner Tom Spicer is advancing in his studies toward Ordination to the Permanent Diaconate in January 2021. As part of his formation, Tom will be offering reflections on an occasional basis at special events (as he did during the Divine Mercy Holy Hour) and at daily Mass. Since our parish is a place for him to grow in his ministry, we encourage everyone to support him with feedback, encouragement, and prayers.
Communal Anointing of the Sick The Anointing of the Sick will be celebrated Saturday, July 6th, after the 8:30 AM Mass. In this sacrament, the Church reaches out to those who are seriously ill, weakened by old age, or are about to undergo surgery. Your cooperation ensures that we are adequately prepared for all in need. If you have any questions or to participate, please contact the Welcome Center by Wednesday, July 3rd.

Adult Ministry and Faith Formation: Because our faith is too rich and too beautiful to have ever learned it all…
Adult faith formation at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church is centered around the understanding that living “The Way” taught by Jesus Christ is a life-long, evolving journey, involving both effort and
decision. To enable adults to explore the faith and deepen their knowledge of God’s Word, we provide many opportunities to come together in a learning environment. As a diverse community with a small parish feel, we know it is important to walk that journey with others and to share what we have learned along the way.

Thank you so much for your generous support of our St. Paul reception to
honor Father David Michael Moses. A very special thank you to the Knights
of Columbus for their hard work in providing and serving a savory barbecue
meal; thank you to all those who prepared delicious salads and delectable
desserts and cakes to complement the feast; also, kudos to all who helped set
up, serve, decorate, and clean up. Thank you Fr. Wencil, staff an all parishioners who worked together to make
this event a memorable one. Lastly, thank you to all who made donations to help cover reception expenses. St.
Paul the Apostle Church felt like a true community as we all worked together to show our appreciation to our
new priest. May all our small sacrifices be offered up for Father David Michael Moses and his holiness as a
priest. May God bless us all!!
Bay Area Deanery Catholic Council of Women (BADCCW) Announces Woman of the Year St. Paul parishioner, Gretchen Mitchell, has been nominated as the BADCCW 2019 Woman of the Year. Gretchen has been an active member of her community as well as within the Church. Relevant remarks on her nomination form included the following: “Gretchen is a woman of God who practices the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy to the best of her ability; giving example to all, especially to those in the BADCCW. When the past president resigned, she did not hesitate to step forward to keep the Bay Area Deanery active. She is dedicated to living a Catholic Christian life and is always willing to serve others. Gretchen spreads joy to others with her outgoing personality and caring ways”. Congratulations, Gretchen!
