LSA Officers The Locksmith Security Association of Michigan It is hard to believe that spring will be here soon! Wasn’t it just yesterday we were saying “Happy New Year”? I hope your year is off to an excellent start, and you are on your way to achieving your goals. We had a wonderful February meeting, and if you weren’t there you sure missed out. I would like to thank Jennifer Truhn and Clark Security for sponsoring our dinner last month as well as doing a mini presenta- tion. Thank you to John Hubel for giving us a quick start to understanding how dou- ble sided Chicago locks are coded at the factory. Also, thank you to Mark Bickman for brining key machines and other tools, so we could have a hands-on demonstration during the meeting. We will come back and visit the Chicago locks in the months ahead. We also had a good meeting discussing and planning the classes LSA will be teaching at the IDN trade show in March. We also had the privilege of hearing from Carl, the inventor of some of the A-1 10 cut tools that many of us have used! We also had some good discussion on the LSA an- niversary plans for later this summer. Please plan to join us for our meeting in March, as we will be doing final prepara- tion for the classes at the IDN show, as well as have some hands on learning with some small format BEST-style interchangeable cores. It is hard to believe that spring will be here soon! Wasn’t it just yesterday we were saying “Happy New Year”? I hope your year is off to an excellent start, and you are on your way to achieving your goals. We had a wonderful February meeting, and if you weren’t there you sure missed out. access control key fob—any device other than a key designed to allow a token to be used and carried on a key ring

accessory position—the position of an ignition switch intended to permit the use of radio or other equipment without turning on a drive train component

active case—the exit device case mounted on the stile of the door on which the lock is located

active leaf—the single door of a pair on which the active or locking hardware is mounted

active relocking device—a device that places its bolts every time a safe door is

closed and activation via attack prevents it from retracting its bolts

smithing Course, started by the late Leonard Singer (Master Keying Expert). The program went out of busi-ness in the early 1980s. This lesson excerpt is circa 1973 . Some illustrious graduates who are LSA members

include: Ray Sinai, Theo Schultz, Dan Meggison, Nick Palise, Tom Lewis and William Lynk, as well as

the notable Billy B. Edwards, Casey Camper and inventor John Ulaszek.
