END-OF-SEASON FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS for J-1 Lifeguards

What time do I have to leave the apartment? Answer: All employees must leave the HSP apartments by 9am on 9/12/2012 unless you are working during the extended season, have submitted your request via our online website and you have received confirmation of your approved request by your ADM. If for any reason you are not able to move out by 9/12 as originally planned, please contact your ADM to get authorization to stay in an apartment longer. PER YOUR HOUSING AGREEMENT, YOU WILL LOSE YOUR DEPOSIT IF FOUND LIVING IN ANY HSP APARTMENT AFTER YOUR MOVE-OUT DATE. The majority of the apartments will be closing on 9/12 but we might be able to provide you housing in different area.

If I stay in the apartment after September 12 how much will I pay? Answer: After 9am on 9/12, every J-1 student will be charged $10/day.

I would like to keep my luggage in the apartment from September 4h till

September 14th. Is it possible? Answer: It is NOT possible. Almost all of the apartments are closing on 9/12/2012 and any luggage must be picked up by 9am on 9/12. Any items left after this time will be removed by the property, and trash removal charges may be taken from residents’ deposits.

My friends and I plan to travel until the end of September. Is it possible to leave our luggage in the HSP office? Answer: Yes, luggage may be left at any time in September but only in the main HSP office in Arlington, VA. In this case, you are responsible for delivering your luggage to the Sierra Office between 9am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. Addition-ally, you must return yourself to pick up your luggage during the same hours.

How can we get the housing deposit? I also would like to know how I can get my bonuses. Answer: Your housing deposit will be determined after move out inspection performed by a HSP representative and a representative of the apartment prop-erty. Together with any eligible bonus and bike deposit, it will be sent to your home address or the address you requested in the Email and Address Confirma-tion Form online. We will send it by 1/31/2013 so it should reach its destination by mid-February to March, 2013. I have worked from the beginning of the season until the end. Will I get my arrival and performance bonuses if I have a warning?

Answer: You are eligible for the on-time arrival bonus even if you received a warning. You may also be eligible for the performance bonus – the seriousness of the warn-ing will be determined by the Safety Department.

Can you explain me procedure for return taxes? Answer: Your 2012 Wage and Tax Statement (W-2) will be sent to your requested address in the end of January 2012 — NO EARLIER. Then you need to file your taxes with the IRS to get money back. You can either do it by yourself, use an agency or other professional services.

Are we going to work during the week or only the weekends after September 3rd? Answer: High Sierra Pools is limited to extended season hours after September 3rd. Many pools will remain open only on the weekends, however some of them run a regular weekday schedule. Please contact your ADM if you are interested to work the after season so you can get information how many hours will be available.

We have our flight on September 8th, but we will receive our last paycheck on the 10th. Is it possible to get it earlier? Answer: It is not. Paychecks for 8/20/2012—9/2/2012 period will be available to pick up in the Sierra Office starting 9/10/2011 between 9am-6pm Monday to Friday. Paychecks for 9/3/2012 - 9/16/2012 will be ready to pick up starting 9/24/2012. Any checks not picked up will be sent on 10/1/2012 to the address you

requested.

Is it possible to give my last paycheck to my friend/roommate? Answer: It is possible. In this case, you must submit your friend’s name via the website address.highsierrapools.com. The authorized person needs to show a government-issued picture ID to verify their identity when picking up your check.
