GBS Team Members:By now you should have heard that we had a great month in May and we are off to a great start in June.

Historically, the summer months are the busiest time of the year, and frankly, set the stage for how our year will end. Let’s stay on our game, take care of our customers, and please, be safe. We want everyone on the team to be able to enjoy our success. As usual, when we hit our goals, we eat good. “Steak Nights” for the team were enjoyed throughout the month of June. I enjoy seeing all of you at the functions, and I especially enjoy celebrating our success. Thanks for all you do.

High Blood PressureBlood pressure is the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries that carry blood from your heart to other parts of your body. Blood pressure normally rises and falls throughout the day, but it can damage your heart and cause health problems if it stays high for a long time. High blood pressure is also called hypertension.

Risk Factors for High Blood Pressure

Unhealthy behaviors, such as the ones listed below, can also increase your risk for high blood pressure.

Jessica ShufordGBS Wellness Nurse

• Smoking tobacco. • Eating foods high in sodium and low in potassium.

Signs and Symptoms of High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is know as a “silent killer” because usually is has no warning signs or symptoms, so many people don’t realize they have it. There’s only one way to know whether you have high blood pressure: measure it. Measuring your blood pressure is quick and painless.

What Blood Pressure Numbers Mean

The chart below shows normal, at-risk, and high blood pressure levels.

Jessica Shuford will attend our company picnic on Saturday, August 1 to conduct blood pressure screenings for those who are interested.

• Not getting enough physical activity. • Being obese. • Drinking too much alcohol.
