Backpacks for the Homeless

On Saturday, December 12, the teens will deliver 200 backpacks and sleeping bags to the homeless in downtown Birmingham. We have purchased all clothing / hygiene items in bulk, and if you would like to make a monetary donation, please earmark your check “homeless clothing.” The cost per backpack is $85 and includes the following: Bible, backpack, sleeping bag, winter coat & hat, long sleeve shirt, socks, underwear, hygiene kit with deodorant, toothpaste & toothbrush, soap, shampoo, comb, chapstick, & hand sanitizer. We will also have special hygiene kits for the homeless ladies.

You and Me Forever

Malvin Sanders

There is a book I recommend by Francis Chan called, "You and Me Forever" and it is about marriage and family in the light of following God. How making God your priority as a family fixes a lot of your problems. (Matthew 6:33) But in that book there is a quote that hit me like a ton of bricks, "If you'd rather watch your kids grow up than see the face of your savior today, you don't grasp the beauty of God” Wow... ouch... Sometimes we make our kids our priority, when really they and we would be better served by making God our priority. It is all about a paradigm shift that allows us to see that when we put God first, "all these (other) things will be added to us," This week whether we are a parent, grandparent, or teenage lets do something that SHOWS our family our priority and shared mission!

Rainbow Omega

Poinsettias

The forms for Rainbow Omega Poinsettias are now in your boxes. Orders are due to the church office Wednesday, November 3. Please make your checks payable to Rainbow Omega. Delivery will be on Wednesday, November 17.

We are two weeks away from our Annual Fall Festival. We hope you are all making plans to attend! Please make sure you are inviting your friends and neighbors too. We are in need of help with grilling hotdogs and preparing food Saturday afternoon prior to the Fall Festival. If you are able to help prepare food, please come to the building at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 30. We have plenty of opportunities to help with running games, welcoming visitors, giving out candy, and chaperoning inflatables. Remember, the Fall Festival is for the entire congregation, not only our children’s ministry.
