Landscaping Bernadette Moriarty Association Board Message continued from page 1

Adieu and Thank You...Over the past few months, the Landscape Committee

worked to develop a proposal for completing the five yearplan for the community. This season the plan focused onthe patio side of the buildings; was developed at monthlyLandscaping Meetings, detailed in meeting minutes, aswell as the Villadom, and in February the concept waspresented to the community at the Annual Meeting.

We are now ready to execute the plan. Over the nextfew weeks, Westcoast will be grading and installing lavarock forming an 18 inch perimeter across the back of eachof the buildings. Subsequently, plantings and trees will beinstalled at designated areas. Plants were selected based onthe environmental condition of each building. The conceptboard remains posted in the Clubhouse, for those thatwould like to stay in touch with the approved plan.

The five years have passed more quickly than imagined. It's been a fantastic learning experience for all involved. The committee members, all from parts north, worked tobecome familiar with Florida growing conditions. It wasnot just a matter of a change in seasons, but a total changein environmental conditions. The Committee worked inde-pendently to educate themselves, worked with the PinellasExtension Center, spent considerable time observingneighborhoods and relied on the expertise of Westcoastlandscapers to monitor our proposals.

A special thank you to one of our early members,Dolores Becker, whose enthusiasm and sense of communi-ty was so appreciated during the early times. As well, wethank Jo Ann Boundy for her knowledge and grace inplanning and providing ideas.

Barb Oaks and Maggie Tait have been extraordinaryover the past five years in providing ideas, guidance and asense of responsibility in bringing ideas to reality. Theyhave spent multiple hours each season researching, inves-tigating and proposing ideas; so many of the areas thathave been executed can be credited to their appreciation ofthe environment and the conditions in Florida. Please letthem know when you appreciate a particular area of thecomplex.

As the Committee reaches its conclusion, we thank eachof you for your support, personal involvement, andinterest to let us know what is occurring and may need at-tention in your area of the complex.

And so, we say adieu as a committee, but landscapingmaintenance will be continued by the Board of Directors.

Water Aerobics Thanks to the ladies that joined mefor the season which had not the greatest weather. I willbe doing it until you all leave for your other home. Dee

Who Is Responsible For Water Damage in Owner Units? When it comes to damage in our units, regardless of thecause, Florida State statute defines the responsibilities ofboth the Association and the unit Owners. If you have notdone so, we recommend that you read, and make yourselffamiliar with, the VDG Declaration "5.1 Apartments", partsA & B, pgs. 10 and 11. If you have sufficient homeowners(condo) insurance in place, your financial loss, should yourunit be damaged, is reduced to the amount of the deductible. If you have questions, we suggest that you consult with yourinsurance agent.VDG and the Digital AgeEight years ago those Owners using a computer and emailwere in the very small minority. Today it is approximately64% and climbing. At this rate, in the next five (5) years orso it will be near 100%. Of course, this should not come asany surprise. Most of us have been forced into it by ourchildren and grandchildren. The transition has madecommunication between the BOD and the Owners so muchmore effective. Kent Ward sends out regular notices to thoseOwners who have email addresses. If you are not on Kent'semail list, you may want to consider that. Kent also main-tains the villasdegolf.net website which contains everythingyou need to know. Check it out!Website ImprovementNew addition to the website... "Contacts Us" on the mainmenu. Here you can notify us when you will be havingquests using your unit and a multitude of other things youneed to let us know about. Try It!Bye-Bye SnowbirdsBefore you leave for the summer, make sure you havearranged to have someone to check on your unit andcomplete the Unit Shut-down Checklist. We wish our depart-ing snowbirds safe travels. To the remaining permanentresidents, your peace and quiet is about to return. A healthyand happy summer to all. We will see you in November!
