Having completed one year at AIMT, it feels as if it was yesterday that I joined this esteemed institute. It has turned out to be much more than I expected from a B s c h o o l . A p a r t f r o m academics our life at this residential campus is full of opportunities which help us to grow and learn a lot.

Having just finished my summer internship like my fellow batch mates we all are looking forward to the placement season. With the best infrastructure and dedicated faculty it has helped the students to mould themselves to face the co rpo ra t e wo r l d w i t h confidence and prosper in life.

It’s an honour to be of the newsletter team and I would like to use this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to this edition.

THE SAP® BUSINESS ONE (B1) COURSE

Career Hikes!

Most of the time out of the regular schedule of the university, the management and faculty try to provide value added courses to the students for better exposure and higher rate of selection into the industry. One such course conducted under the coordination of Prof. Surabhi Pandey was SAP Business One course. The course aimed to equip participants with thorough working knowledge to implement and manage SAP® BUSINESS ONE software. Opportunities in the small and medium businesses space are on an upswing. Participants can now walk into this booming sector with a SAP B1 training. The global certification is provided by SAP. A lot of students enrolled into this course and we hope they made the best use of this opportunity. Miss Shiphali from MBA 09 was able to secure the highest grade.

GUEST VISIT We believe in an educational culture where the students have an overall development of what they are and what the industry wants. For such cross exposure and development we organize a number of platforms where both students and industry mentors can interact. One such aid is through Guest Lectures. On 27th April 2014, we had with us Mr. Deepak Barara, HR Head of Lanco Groups. As an HR head he guided us through what the industry expects out of young MBA graduate and where the students stand. Many questions were thrown on by our students like Amit Kumar, Rashmi Sharma and many more on subject like the working style of the present generation, issues related to employee retention, and employee layoffs that happen in India due to the instability in our economy. It was indeed a very long guest session and everybody participated with full enthusiasm and made most out the wonderful opportunity that they got.

CONVOCATION 2014The convocation was organised to confer MBA degrees to the MBA-7(2010-12) batch of the Institute on 5 APR 2014. The event started with the Annual Report of the institute by the Director of AIMT where he emphasised on the core ideology of the institute during the past 10 years .Lt Gen (Retd.) Zameer Uddin Shah, AMU presiding over the function as Chief Guest and conferred the degrees. He emphasised on the need for developing leadership qualities, setting loft goals and enhancing the brand value of the Institute. Students from MBA 08 and MBA 09 were given various excellence awards which include Mr Arvind Kumar Rana for all round best student rolling trophy, Ms Sweety Patyal for standing 1st and many more. Being the first convocation of the institute it was a moment of great pride for the Institute.

forces to compete in the corporate world. The institute is located in Gautam Budh Nagar, an ideal place for grooming the students for corporate world. The institute is very well managed by the able staff looking after its administration and education curriculum. From our side we will contribute our best to the college in relation to decisions made regarding the breaches of the college engagement and well being policy. We have put our both the daughters in the institute for their better future and are hopeful that the institute will come up to our expectations.

MICROSOFT – CLOUD ADOPTION IN EDUCATIONThere is a space in the market and there is a market in that space.A guest lecture was organized on 3 March 2014 at AIMT on Office 365 Cloud Services in Education Demo by Mr. Yogesh Kochhar, Director, Microsoft. There was a management discussion about Micro and SME working with Academia using Technology- the way forward. As we all are aware that technology today has the potential to catalyse any business, transaction or process and the Micro-small and medium businesses are currently suffering and not able to scale themselves without adequate technology, this session made the students think about the same.

TRIP TO LANCOThe HR team of our college planned a trip to Lanco where Prof Shruti Gupta, Prof. Shikha Bhardwaj and Prof. Shalini Sharma accompanied the students on the trip. The session was conducted by the H.R dept. of Lanco for various B school students. It started with company’s presentation followed by an interactive session between the Aimtians and their HR team. Students discussed on the various concepts that they had learnt theoretically which helped the students to get an insight into reality. The day ended with a fruitful discussion on various HR concepts and challenges faced by the industry. Over all it was an extensive learning experience and a great value addition to the knowledge.

SEBI WORKSHOPThe finance faculty of AIMT organised SEBI (Securities and Exchange Board of India) workshop for the MBA 09 batch in the month of November. This workshop was attended not only by the finance students but also by students of other specialisation. The session started with an introduction to SEBI and why it’s called the WATCH DOG of securities market. This was followed by an interactive discussion on various policies and procedures of SEBI where students were enlightened about the importance of SEBI in the Indian market. All in all it was a great learning experience for the students and with the success of this session the college is planning to have more such sessions for the coming batches as well.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO YOG RAMDivya Yog Mandir (TRUST) started its journey on January 5th 1995, with a very few resources. Despite many hindrances as it is 20 km far from highway and there is no proper road we managed to reach there. Students were welcomed by a cup of herbal tea after which they were briefed about how it is providing holistic treatment through an integrated use of Yoga, Naturopathy, harmless herbs and medical plants. Also, students were made physically see the various rooms were actual treatment is been done. It presents a unique combination of the ancient traditional system with the modern diagnosis. The most exciting part of the visit was when students were taken to Har Ki Pauri. Accompained by Prof.Parul Gupta and Prof Shruti Gupta this industrial visit surely was a moving experience for the students.

Cultural ActivitiesCultural ActivitiesCHRISTMAS DAY

Dashing through the snow on a pair of broken skies.....

A fun filled and beautiful Christmas eve was celebrated by the students of AIMT and AIE, together. The evening saw a lot of excitement and enthusiasm amongst all students and faculty, dressed up in red and white. The chilli winters of NCR added vigour to the bonfire that was lighted and lifted up the entire Christmassy feeling within everyone!Off course how can we miss our own SANTA CLAUSE...Mr. Umesh Singh! The most popular man of the evening!

HOLI

Rang Barse...!

Holi celebrations started with a Holika bonfire on the night before where students gather, sang and danced. The colourful festival of Holi is celebrated on Phalgun Purnima which came this year on 17th March. Holi festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of 'good' over 'bad'. The colourful festival bridges the social gap and renews news relationships. On this day, AIMTians are full of excitement and in full ‘josh’ to enjoy to the fullest with colors and water, splashing them on each other and playing it dirty!

ANNUAL FEST

“The buzzing and ready business bachelors come to a common platform”

It was a mega event organized by Army Institute of Management & Technology to bring together students from college’s pursuing a MBA degree. There were many colleges who participated in the various events like business quiz, the marketing ad making competition, corporate walk and many debates and declamations. Also we conducted best out of waste which was a successful event and brought out the creative side of the participants. It was one amongst the most fun and enjoyed event. Also we saw a good street plays being performed by colleges. The event continued all morning and in the afternoon lunch was served to all the participants. After which the price distribution ceremony followed! It was good to see everyone in zeal and cheering for their colleges.

NEW YEAR

“Cheers to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.”

- Oprah Winfrey

Yet another new start and as we AIMTians celebrate every occasion, so goes for the ‘Year Beginning’. With new resolution (to-be broken) to new friends and to the new semester, we are always high on spirits! The new year evening was celebrated with bonfire and a DJ evening for all students. All were decked up in their most favourite attire and this followed a good appétit!

REPUBLIC DAY

Hold your head high; let the world know You are Proud to be an Indian.

Vande Mataram!

The most patriotic event was to celebrate the 64th Republic day of India this year. The day starts with all faculty, staff and students assembling early morning to commemorate this day by hosting the national flag and singing the national anthem. We could see the feeling of national interest and development that students carried. One of our students, Puneet Saini claimed “ that being from the defence background, not just today but every day brings in a thought about our nation and how we the youth could give it a global position in the world to be the best”. This was followed by the director’s speech and many students of MBA 09 & MBA 10 like Neha Rana and Vikas Kumar, recited poetry and sang patriotic songs.

BASSOCC

Success is where preparation and opportunity meet.

-Bobby Unser

BASSOCC, as the name suggests is a combination of basketball and soccer. Eight teams both for football and basketball had participated. The entire event was coordinated by Ajay Jamwal, Shobit, Gaurav Kandpal from MBA 09 and from MBA 10, Bhoomesh Kumar, Manohar and Ajit Singh under the fine leadership of Dr. Sanjeev Tondon, put up a great show with marvellous sportsmanship spirit amongst all players. AIMT were the winners in basketball and NIET were the winners in Football. Following was the vote of thanks by Ajay Jamwal of MBA 09:

“It was important to conduct a big tournament at the college level, a event that marks excellent sportsmanship but also showcased outstanding talent by various students without whom this mega event, BASSOC would not have been possible. I wish the future batches all the very best!”

“WE ONLY PART TO MEET AGAIN”The day whole college was aware of but yet when it came it brought tears in everyone’s eyes, it was the day when AIMTians bid farewell to the most respected and loved figure in the college the Director (Brig) Ashok Pathak. Valediction ceremony started with a video on his life made by Prof. Surabhi Pandey with her team, it showcased his journey in the institute from 2012 to 2014 which truly touched everyone’s heart. During his tenure he not only proved to be a great director but a wonderful teacher as well. He was a perfect example of lead by example with his leadership qualities and in depth knowledge in various subjects. His presence will truly be missed but we all know he is always there for his students. It was followed by a thank you speech by sir and high tea where students and faculty shared their experiences.
