Thanks goes to Pilgrim – in helping make ABATE of FL, Inc – Lake County Chapter, visible PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- Excited about BikeFest? Don’t Miss Motorcycle Safety & Awareness Program-- The Leesburg Public Library will present this informative program on Wed, April13 at 1pm. The presentation is brought to you by ABATE of Florida, Inc. a state-wide non-profit organization of motorcycle enthusiasts from all walks of life. The group promotes motorcycle safety awareness, encourages continuing rider training and political awareness in an effort to reduce injuries and fatalities in the Sunshine State. This instructional program is not just for those who ride motorcycles, but also for anyone interested in road and pedestrian safety during Leesburg Bikefest and throughout the year. Registration is not required. The Library is located at 100 E. Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748. For more information, contact Josephine Dix, Program Coordinator, at 352-728-9790 or email at [email protected].

April 13th, Although there wasn't a very good attendance, there was a woman who was there as she was getting a bike for the first time and was thrilled to see and hear the presentation. While I would rather the whole place was full of

people, I'll present a MSAP presentation to whoever shows up! Pilgrim Safety director, Lake county chapter

ABATE of Florida, Inc.

Pilgrim’s words published in the newspaper RE: Another Opinion, “Wear helmets to stay safe”. You’re more likely to get killed as a pedestrian in Florida than you are riding a motorcycle, whether you wear a helmet or not! I knew the statistics you presented were not correct so I looked them up on NHTSA’s website, which is the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. You failed to report where you got your information, which can explain the error of your statistics. In 2013, there were 4735 pedestrians killed, while 743 bicyclists were killed, you do the math. During that same time 4688 motorcyclists died, which included on road, off road, motorized bicycles and tricycles. For the year 2014 of the 478 total motorcyclists killed, 240 were wearing helmets, 223 were not wearing helmets, and there were 15 unknown deaths, which were probably so gruesome that they couldn’t tell if they wore a helmet or not. Florida ranks 24th in per capita motorcycle registrations, with 1 in 33 registering a motorcycle, while California ranks 43rd, with 1 in 47 and Texas ranks 48, with 1 in 58 registering a motorcycle. California the most populous state had 813,771 registrations, Florida had 558,123, and Texas had 445,395. As the safety director of the Lake county chapter of ABATE of Florida, Inc., we present a MSAP class, (Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Presentation), wherever we’re welcomed, to whomever would like to know more about motorcycle safety and awareness issues. It’s a free class, and we invite all groups of people to be a part of our presentation. There are many misconceptions concerning motorcycles and their riders. We all have to share the road and pay our taxes to do so. If we are exposed to information that’s accurate and informative, things can improve on our highways and roads. LOOK TWICE, SAVE A LIFE! Our Mission Statement: We are a non-profit organization of motorcycle enthusiasts from all walks of life. We lobby &

educate the government & the general public to promote motorcycling in a safe & positive image. We endeavor to enlist the cooperation & participation of all organizations & individuals that share a similar interest in preserving our American tradition of FREEDOM. We promote motorcycle safety, training, & political awareness. We ARE NOT A CLUB OR A GANG. We fund our work through toy runs, poker runs, campouts, & other motorcycle activities. We are your neighbors & friends who work, pay taxes, & get involved with our community. We serve & support our country & believe in freedom. We use all legal means to protect our rights without infringing on the rights of others.

I was in a pet shop when I noticed a Muslim girl with the most amazingly coloured parrot perched on her shoulder. "Where did you get that from?" I asked. "Germany. There's f---king millions of 'em!" said the parrot.

Orl may soon become the next city to decriminalized small amounts of marijuana. The City Council will discuss & vote on the ordinance. If passed police officers could issue citations, rather

than make arrests . Tampa passed a similar ordinance. The Council will discuss & vote on an ordinance that would make possession of 20 grams or less a violation. Violators would be issued a citation, rather than arrested Currently, if someone is found with up to 20 grams of marijuana, they face a yr in jail & a $1,000 fine. A number of cities & counties have implemented new policies that offer civil penalties for minor marijuana offenses. Both Volusia County & the city of Tampa passed similar ordinances last month, giving law enforcement the option to ticket or arrest someone with less than 20 grams. St. Petersburg is also considering a similar proposal. Mayor Buddy Dyer, along with Orl police Chief John Mina, will discuss the proposal & its significance later today.

America, we marched with pride We gave our life, for you we died. Please think of us as life moves on We tried so hard till that last dawn. Do let our spirit fill the land Pass treasured

freedom, hand to hand God blessed this country with such love Hold in your heart, abundance of & when you stand before my grave, Think not of one, but each who gave.

In time of need their will is sure American, their freedom pure Protect our life & liberty Unselfishly, they keep us free Each soldier knows what is at stake The risk is grave, there’s no mistake With pride they serve our country strong They face each foe to come along Remember them while in your home Or where you choose to freely roam Don’t take for granted what you see Some left this life, so it could be To God I urge you all to pray For soldier’s brave, to face each day We should be thankful, one & all For those who march to meet each call

What ABATE means to me. They call me JumpinJack; Well first, there is the intended purpose of ABATE----- to support our lobbyist, James "DOC" Reichenbach, in the state capital that will support motorcyclists rights. Motorcyclists always seem at the mercy of lawmakers and insurance companies, and it is beneficial to a rider's lifestyle to have someone fighting for our rights. And ABATE of Florida, INC, has been effective in the past: the mandatory helmet law, traffic sensor laws, motorcycle parking, motorcycles allowed in car pool lanes, and so on. All important issues to me, and they get on the docket because of our lobbyist in Tallahassee. Also in place is a patent, MSAP (Motorcycle Safety Awareness Program) that is presented in schools and any organization, by certified chapter Safety Directors. That is the meat and potatoes, and the fun part is how we support the lobbyist-by having toy runs, poker runs, campgrounds, and parties! We generate revenue through these events so we can pay the lobbyist. I've made many friends and had a great time over the years through ABATE of Florida, INC, Lake County Chapter, events, and am still enjoying the organization. So this is what it means to me-Fighting for my rights on the road. Making many friends, and all of them ride! Getting to see those friends on a regular basis. The camaraderie that comes from working and playing together on our fund raising projects. Being a part of something big... big enough to affect the entire state... and country! The feeling that comes from standing up for your rights, and not just getting ste amrolled by the legislature. Participating in miles long escorted protest rides to get the public’s attention, an annual “Can You See Me Now” ride happens in May, motorcycle safety month. Collecting toys for the not so fortunate children. State meetings, and riding all around the state. And the parties! I have had so very much fun over the years, with the good friends I have made through ABATE Lake County Chapter. Good lasting relationships with people that care about the same things I do. And of course, the monthly meetings, so we can get together and run our business.I've been a member of ABATE Florida, INC, for 25 years, and it has been a meaningful and satisfying experience. And even though I go through periods when I'm not very accessible, I will always belong. Motorcycling is very important to me, and so is protecting my freedom. Ride on, ride safe, and see you all soon... JumpinJack -- Ron DeLaurier - Lake County at: http://lake.abateflorida.com/ or ABATE of Florida, INC at http://abateofflorida.com/

www.sumterradio.com This will be my 11th yr doing the entertainment at one of the camp grounds for LSBG Bikefest. I've been working on the play list for it and although a work in

progress, it's 2 days long now. Tune in if ya like, if ya do, let me know what you think in the comment section. All insight is

helpful these days. Please share if ya love great tunes! Tim Reed,

ABATE of FL, Inc – Lake County chapter member.

----A passenger in a taxi leaned over to ask the driver a question, gently tapped him on the shoulder to get his attention. The driver screamed, lost control of the cab, nearly hit a bus,

drove up over the curb he stopped inches from a large plate glass window. For a few moments everything was silent in the cab. Then, the shaking driver said "are you OK? I'm sorry, but you scared the daylights out of me…" The badly shaken passenger apologized to the driver, he said "I didn't realize that a mere tap on the shoulder would startle someone so badly." The driver replied, "No, no, I'm the one who is sorry, it's entirely my fault, today is my very first day driving a cab." "I've been driving a hearse for 25 yrs.."

An old man & a little boy on a donkey were on their way to town. They passed by a group of people who said, "What a shame for that old man to be walking while that perfectly able-bodied boy rides that

donkey." So the boy got off the donkey & the old man got on. They later passed by some more people who said," Why should that little boy have to walk when they have a donkey to ride on”. So the little boy

got on the donkey & they both rode it. After a while, they passed some more people. They overheard the people say, "That poor donkey must be worn out from carrying both of them." The moral is- you just can’t

please everyone all the time & if we try we end up carrying a heavy burden.

Please join us May 14th for an awareness ride through Lake Cnty.

Membership: Our membership includes people from all walks of life. We listen to you & work hard to provide the best information possible, on your behalf. Diligent effort is used to improve community awareness of our mission. We still have to play though! This is where exciting & fun filled events come tonto play. You aren’t just a part of an organization; you are part of our family. Focus Areas: Awareness --- improve visibility & safety for all people on the road. We strive to present our MSAP (Motorcycle Safety Awareness Program) to High Schools & businesses. Legislation --- educate local legislative representatives on who we are, what we are about & our interest in supporting certain bills & ordinances that relate to our mission. Why do we need a S.M.R.O. State Motorcycle Rights Organization Just like everything else in life is governed, so are your rights to enjoy the open road. Taking for granted the ease of Mting your bike for a ride is your first mistake

-A man was going door-to-door doing a sexual survey when he walked up to one man's door, "Excuse me, Sir, how many times a week do you sleep with your wife?" "3 times," the man said without hesitation. "Hmm, that is once more often than your neighbor," the survey taker said, making a note. "That makes sense," the man replied, "after all, she is MY wife."

See the above as an example for anyone who wants to request a proclamation from their city's, county's commissioner's council, They will ask if you want it presented to you at a council/commission meeting, or do you want it mailed to you, without any kind of presentation. Some places want to present it at a meeting as it shows their alliance with May being "Motorcycle Awareness Month." Now is the time to approach the city, county agencies, as they may want to have it prepared for May. Let Pilgrim know if you can get a proclamation as we should avoid "double dipping" a particular agency. (V has Astatula-Joyce, Lk Cnty gov)

---It was a small town & the patrolman was making his evening rounds. As he was checking a used car lot, he came upon 2 little old ladies sitting in a used car. He stopped & asked them if they were stealing the car. They said "Heavens no, we bought it.” He said, "Then why don't you drive it away". Each of the women said, "We can't drive". The officer momentarily shook his head & then asked, "Then why did you buy it?” They answered, "We were told if we bought a car here, we'd get screwed, so we're just waiting." ----A young boy was looking through the family album & asked his mother: "Who's this guy on the beach with you with all the muscles & curly hair?" "That's your father." "Then who's that old, fat bald man who lives with us now?"

If the origin of what you buy is important to you, I suggest that you write down on a card & keep in your wallet, the following info. Since no one is willing to share this info, I'm grateful for the person who dug it up, & passed it along. The whole world is concerned about China made 'black hearted goods'. Can you differentiate which one is made in Canada, Philippines, Taiwan or China? The first 3 digits of the barcode is the country code wherein the product was made. --2 men were sitting next to each other at a bar. After a while, one guy looks at the other & says, ‘I can’t help but think, from listening to you, that you’re from Ireland.’ The other guy responds proudly, ‘Yes, that I am!’ The first guy says, ‘So am I! And where about from Ireland might you be’? The other guy answers, ‘I’m from Dublin, I am.’ The first guy responds, ‘So am I!’ And to what school would you have been going’? The other guy answers, ‘Well now, I went to St.

Mary’s, of course.’ The first guy gets really excited & says, ‘And so did I. Tell me, what year did you graduate’? The other guy answers, ‘Well, now, let’s see. I graduated in 1964.’ The first guy exclaims, ‘The Good Lord must be smiling down upon us! I can hardly believe our good luck at winding up in the same bar tonight. Can you believe it? I graduated from St. Mary’s in 1964 my own self!’ About this time, Vicky walks into the bar, sits down & orders a beer. Brian, the bartender, walks over to Vicky, shaking his head & mutters, ‘It’s going to be a long night tonight.’ Vicky asks, ‘Why do you say that, Brian’? ‘The Murphy twins are drunk again.’

---The blonde went to an eye Dr to have her eyes checked. The doctor directed her to read various letters with the left eye while covering the right eye. The blonde was so mixed up on which eye was which that the eye doctor in disgust took a paper sack with a hole to see through, & put it on her head to cover up the appropriate eye & asked her to read the letters. As he did so, he noticed the blonde had tears streaming down her face. "Look," said the doctor, "there's no need to get upset about getting glasses." "I know," agreed the blonde, "But I kind of had my heart set on wire frames."
