101: First Move (Introductory Membership Class)

This is a 4 week class that will run four consecutive Sundays through January 28 and will be held in the Family Life Center.

Taught by our Pastor for new members of our church and adults who wish to better understand the ministries and purposes of our church. This class is required for church membership.

MISSIONS 2018

Please be in prayer for the following upcoming missions trips. Your prayers make the difference in whether a trip is successful or not. Here is a list of the trips, and a little bit about what will be happening with each trip. New Zealand (Januar y 11-19) This team will work with Curtis and Mimi Estees and will primarily be focused on sharing the Good News of Jesus with elementary aged kids. Curtis and Mimi operate a Christian day care center, and this team will have the amazing opportunity to visit and share who Jesus is and how He can change lives. S e n e g a l ( J a n u a r y 1 3 - 2 1 ) Walking the streets, meeting with existing contacts, making new contacts, discipling new believers, and sharing the Good News of Jesus to this predominately Muslim nation is the agenda for this trip. S o u t h A s i a ( M a r c h 1 7 - 2 4 ) This team will aid the International Mission Board team already established in the city to seek out millennials from the millions of residents in this city who are interested in following Jesus. Once contacts are established, the team goes to work to continue to “water the Gospel Seeds”. Indianapolis (March Spring Break) This team will work with Nathan and Rachelle Shaver as they are planting Speedway Community Church in Indianapolis.

New Giving Envelopes Now Available Giving envelopes for those already assigned have been placed in the hallway between the preschool area and the main foyer. If you do not find envelopes in your name and would like to have a set of envelopes, please contact the Financial Office at 879-2172.

Year - End Contributions Please note that checks that are received in the church office by 5PM on Friday, December 29 or are mailed with a postmark of December 31 or earlier are deductible in the 2017 tax year.

Filing 2017 Tax Returns You should not file your federal income tax return before you receive a contribution statement from the church. These will be mailed by January 31.

Andy Peterson worked as a park ranger in Colorado. During his days off he often hiked in a nearby state park to take in views of the towering Rockies. One afternoon he was initially excited to encounter a mountain lion chewing on it’s kill as he hiked down the mountain, but it only took seconds for his excitement to turn to fear. He had to get past the cat to get off the mountain, there was only one way down and his only defensive weapons were a 2-inch pocket knife and his backpack. Come and hear how Andy survived the attack and how it radically changed his perspective and altered his life. This is a great opportunity to invite your unchurched friends to hear an inspiring story as well as a clear presentation of the Gospel.

Each week Pastor Lynn takes a topic or a book of the Bible and breaks it down into bite sized chunks that are easy to understand and apply to your life. And, if it doesn’t make sense to you, just ask a question.

The U.S. is a wealthy country by comparison; however, you may be shocked to see the stats on the amount of debt the average American carries in relation to their income. For many Americans, the financial future is uncertain.

78% of Americans live paycheck-to-paycheck, 66% would struggle to pay a $1000 emergency. If those statistics sound familiar and you would like to change your financial future, this class is for you!

The Search Team which has been established to fill the position of Associate Pastor: Music and Worship is continuing the process of gathering info on potential candidates. Please pray for this team to have God’s wisdom (James 1:5) as they take on this huge assignment. The team is very much aware of the critical nature of this position and they would ask you to pray daily concerning this need.

We would also like to express our appreciation to Carlos Santiago for filling this role in the interim. It has been a huge undertaking and he has demonstrated much grace and outstanding ability in the short time he has been with us. Many of you have made his load lighter and we are grateful for the way you have embraced his leadership and given encouragement to him.

As the Search Team moves forward, updates will be provided from time to time to let you know how the search is progressing. Thank you for your prayer support.

You may attend any or all sessions - each session addresses a different topic/need and is self contained. Sessions will include video seminars, group discussions as well as personal study and reflection.
