Volume 2 June 28, 2014 Ramzan 1, 1435 WEEKEND DINNERS ICR Event Planning Committee has assigned following group leaders: Group 1: June 28, June 29 Leaders: Fahim Ahmed and Shahab Uddin Group 2: July 4, July 5, July 6 Leaders: Saba Farooq and Adnan Ziaullah Group 3: July 11, July 12, July 13 Leaders: Qosia Altaf and Khalid Qureshi Group 4: July 18, July 19, July 20 Leaders: Naila uddin and Asif Amjad Group 5: July 25, July 26, July 27 Leaders: Akifa Saha and Munnaza Qadir Aitekaf ICR will continue the tradition of for Aitekaf during the last 10 days of Ramzan. Plans are to have one night for children as well so they understand its meaning. If you are interested, please contact Shahab Uddin & Gami Mostafa. Laylat al-Qadr / Shab-e-Qadr Laylat al-Qadr is expected to be found in the last five odd nights of Ramzan: 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th or 29th night. Hafiz Saleem will complete the Quran on Wednesday, July 23rd, Insha’allah. Mosque will be open all night for Special Duwa and Qirat. A sumptuous Sahoor will be served so everyone is invited to stay all night at ICR. RAMZAN 1435 MUBARAK The Islamic Center of Rockland is pleased to announce the arrival of the blessed month of Ramzan, the 9th month of the lunar calendar, effective June 28, 2014. ICR follows the position of the Fiqh Council of North America for all events of the Islamic lunar months. This year, ICR Imam Hafiz Saleem will lead the Traveeh prayers, the first starting on Friday night, June 27, 2014, following the Isha Prayer. A back up Hafiz will be present for support throughout the month of Ramzan. The 185th verse of the second Sura Al- Baqarah says: It was in the month of Ramazan that the Qur'an was revealed as guidance for mankind, clear messages giving guidance and distinguishing between right and wrong. So any one of you who is present that month should fast, and anyone who is ill or on a journey should make up for the lost days by fasting on other days later. Allah wants ease for you, not hardship. He wants you to complete the prescribed period and to glorify Him for having guided you, so that you may be thankful. Ramzan is coming to us with its gifts of blessings from our Lord, so let’s take advantage of this unique opportunity for one more time in our life to increase our worth and value.
