Alumni Update
I will always maintain that the program at the midget level that Willy (Huber), you and the team run is second to none across Canada.
It blends a spectacular balance of experience between life and hockey. It gives many boys that will not play beyond this level a rich experience they cannot forget. Thanks to all of you that put the effort and funding into this program.

Waterloo Wolves & Hero to Hero
Waterloo Wolves & Hero to Hero continued...
MCpl Perry Thomas (in the middle, holding the flag, wearing the Wolves’ shirt) came to a Waterloo Wolves game on November 1, 2010
whilst on leave to meet the team and thank them for their support of the men and women of the Canadian Armed Forces.
In 2009-2010, the Waterloo Wolves teamed up with Hero to Hero - Team Canada
http://www.herotohero.us/TeamCanada.html. Hero to Hero matches emergency services personnel
and sports teams with Canadian troops serving overseas. The personnel or teams from Canada send
autographed shirts and other goodies to the troops, showing their support for the members of the Can-
adian Armed Forces.
The Wolves promoted the new partnership on their website, in print, on radio and TV. In fact, not only
did the initiative get a lot of local coverage, it was also discussed on Hockey Night in Canada.
The Wolves donated 2 team jerseys, autographed by all of the players on the 2009-2010 roster. Each
player also signed a Wolves tshirt, a tennis ball (for ball hockey on the army bases), and wrote short letters to the troops. A
banner was signed by players, coaching staff, parents, sponsors, and members of the general public. A Kitchener Rangers
jersey, signed by all Rangers plays from their 2009-2010 roster, twenty cases (3600) of Piller’s Pepstix and other items were
also shipped overseas.
At a special, regular season game, a representative from the Canadian Armed Forces and from Hero to Hero were in atten-
dance and were presented with the Wolves’ donations. Various political dignitaries attended the game and award-winning
country singer/songwriter Jamie Warren sang the national anthem.
We are proud to announce that the Waterloo Wolves Midget AAA team will continue its partnership with Hero to Hero for
the 2010-2011 hockey season. More details coming soon!

In late summer/early autumn of 2010, letters and photos began to arrive from Afghanistan. Soldiers were receiving the
Wolves’ donations and wanted to express their appreciation. We would like to share a few with you:
Hello,. We received your package the other day and are thrilled to have been a part of the program. Everyone looks great in their donated shirts
and the coffee and pepperettes are a HUGE hit. I will work on collecting pictures as my team is often split up across the province. Please pass
along to those involved that this program is very much appreciated and was a significant morale boost. Thanks again,
Andrew S.
Hello. My name is Master Corporal Bryant Hynes with Canadian Helicopter Forces, Afghanistan. My crew recently received a donation of hats
and t-shirts from your organization. We'd like to show our appreciation by sending a few photos we took the other night after receiving your dona-
tion. The flecks in the pics are not snow, but sand.
We are helicopter technicians working on the CH146 Griffon and CH147 Chinook helicopters. We are comprised of air force units from every
base and fleet from across Canada. I'm here from 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron, Edmonton. We provide 24/7 Operations covering
troop/supply transport, convoy over watch, and reconnaissance.
I want to thank you again for your support and the hats/t-shirts. They are very much appreciated.
MCpl Bryant Hynes
Good Day. I was on of the lucky one who got a tshirt and a Tim's Card from the team. I brought it home on my leave but I'm going back soon to
finish up the tour. The shirts are really great way to support the troops and raise the morale. Good luck in the new season Midget AAA is some of
the best hockey to watch. Thanks again for your support.
