Here is a preview of activities and events that are being planned for April. Please let us know of any great ideas that we could add to the calendar in the upcoming months.

Committee Meetings It’s time again for the Independence Village Commit-tees to meet. Please join us on Friday, March 6th, start-ing at 9:30am in the Game Room. The Member Com-mittees at Independence Village play a vital role in mak-ing our community home. We are always looking for new Members to join and serve on our committees. Please stop by to check it out! A list of the committees, current Committee Members, and the committee func-tions are available at the Concierge Desk and are posted at the Mail Station.

A Note From Our Librarian We truly hope you enjoy our library collection, and kindly ask that once you have finished reading the book, please place the book inside the return bin instead of putting them back on the shelf. This will greatly help our volunteer librarian when she is here weekly organiz-ing them for the next reader.

Town Hall Meeting It’s that time again! Our Town Hall Meeting will be held on Friday, March 20th, at 11:00am, in the Ivy Room at Independence Hill Assisted Living. Please pick up a “Town Hall Topic Form” from the Concierge Desk and submit any community issues by Friday, March 13th. This will ensure that your questions and items of interest are on the agenda. Your attendance will keep you up to date with all that is happening in Independence Village. See you there!

Roundabout Reminder As most of you have probably noticed, we have STOP signs at each entry point of all roundabouts. We kindly ask that you observe each stop before entering. It has been a concern of many Members throughout the years. Here are a few rules regarding roundabout etiquette. Watch for pedestrians. Yield to traffic in the circle. Enter circle to the right & stay in the circle until your ex-it. NO ‘cutting through’ please Obey the speed limits, and remain safe at all times. “I hope the season of change takes you to the place where you need to be, where your heart will be allowed to grow and free to feel.”

Be a part of this energetic fitness class that is designed to help you achieve your per-sonal fitness level through proper stretch-ing, weight training, and aerobic exercise. Join instructor Judy Everett in the IV Fit-ness 10:15am.

Sing-a-long Let’s meet in the Game Room at 10:45am to hear all your lovely voices, and create beautiful music. We encourage you to bring any music you have and would like to share.

Puzzle Play On The Balcony! Meet your fellow puzzle players at the Clubhouse at 3:45pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays to help find a few pieces with your neighbors! Please look on the calendar for chosen dates.

Tuesdays and Thursdays Weston Group Fitness Class!

The Weston Group has graciously offered to teach a fitness class weekly. Swing by at 10:00am for a great workout based on your individual needs. See you there!

*Mexican Train A domino game in which the object of the game is for a player to play all the dominoes from his or her hand onto one or more chains, or “trains,” emanating from a central hub or “station.” See you in the Pub at 1:00pm.

Zumba Gold at IH Tailored for active adults, who want to fo-cus on muscle conditioning and light weight activity. The focus is on cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility and bal-ance! Walk in ready to tone up, leave exhil-arated and empowered! IH Aerobics Studio at 1:30pm.

Wednesdays Duplicate Bridge

Join your friends every Wednesday at 12:15pm for a game of duplicate bridge. Playing is for the joy of camaraderie and to challenge the brain. If you have any ques-tions, please contact the concierge and you will be directed to the fun!

*Party Bridge Join your neighbors in the Clubhouse at 1:00pm for another fun game of Party Bridge. Let’s get this party started! If you do not make it in a group of four, you will automatically be placed as a back up, so if you sign up be ready to play the day of just in case!

Fridays Tai Chi

A self-paced class that teaches gentle exer-cise & stretching. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring the body is in constant motion. Every Friday in the IH-AS at 9:15am.

Chair Yoga Join instructor Leticia Cruz at 11:00am in the IV Fitness Room for this adapted yoga class that focuses on deep breathing tech-niques and simple stretches. This class also relieves chronic pain and increases lung capacity.

Line Dancing Grab your boots and Yee-haw on over to join your IH neighbors and Dora, the line dancing instructor, in the IH-AS at 11:15am to learn how to line dance.

Wild Card Poker! Meet your neighbors in the Pub at 1:00pm for a fun game of Wild Card Poker. They are willing to teach, so sign up and get your “fun” on!

Fridays at Five Join your neighbors every Friday for “Happy Hour!” BYOB and make sure to bring a snack for everyone to share in the IV Pub and be ready to hear and tell some stories, create memories, and have a lot of laughs! Great times are in store!

Sittercize Class Come benefit from this seated exercise that most anyone can perform. It’s a great way to start your day. Meet in the IV Fitness Room at 10:00am.

Van will depart from the Clubhouse at 12:00pm and travel over to the King William District. We will dine at the Madhatter Tea House, before embark-ing on our self guided tour around the neighborhood. We will stop at numer-ous historical homes and share the fun facts about it’s history. 10 seats avail-able. RSVP by Friday, March 6th.

*Randolph AFB Board the bus at the IV Clubhouse for shopping at Randolph AFB at 9:00am. Military ID required. 6 seats availa-ble. The bus will return at approxi-mately 11:30am.

Head on down to the Clubhouse at 9:00am and start your day off with a hearty and delicious breakfast with your neighbors! RSVP by Wednes-day, March 11th.

Monday, March 16th *Quadrangle & Lunch

Join us at 11:00am for a visit to the Quadrangle. It was the original fort at Sam Houston, and was believed to hold Geronimo following his surren-der. It is now one of San Antonio’s tranquil places to see. The deer, rab-bits, peacocks, and other birds walk freely in the grass and under the trees there, tame enough that many of them will crowd around visitors at the sight of food. 10 seats available. Please bring us your ID to us when you sign up. RSVP by Friday, March 13th.

Monday, March 16th

*North Star Mall Board the bus at 1:15pm at the IV Clubhouse for a 2 hour shopping trip to North Star Mall. This is a combined trip with IH. 6 seats available.

IV will provide plates, napkins, silverware, propane, and of course the beer! Come grill and chill at 5:00pm with your neighbors! See you there.

*Big Band Dance: Welcome Aboard The Titanic

Step back in time, and dine and dance on board the “Unsinkable” ship, The Titanic for an unforgettable evening! Join us at the Holy Trinity Banquet Hall at 6:00pm There will be live music, great food, drinks, and of course, danc-ing! Dress to impress, put on your danc-ing shoes, and we will see you there.

Pickleball Every Friday! Sonterra is now hosting a Pickleball mixer every Friday at 6pm, and you’re invited! It’s $10.00 per person. Please let us know if you would like to join in on the fun, and remember, “Stay out of the kitchen!”

Prescription Pickup

Prescription pickup is available to IV Members on Wednesdays. Drop off your Rx refill request at the IV Concierge Desk with form of payment. We will pick up from Walgreens, CVS, HEB at Blanco/1604, and Walmart at 281/1604. For pickup at Ft. Sam, please bring all information including a copy of your military ID by 3:00pm on Tuesday for Wednesday pickup. RX must be set up at Ft. Sam.

Weekly HEB Trips:

Every Wednesday at 1:15pm you will be able to head over to HEB and grab the

items you’ve been needing.

HEB locations will change between Blanco and Wilderness Oak weekly. Please see

calendar for which one we will go to next!

Walk For Life! Come pick up a Talley Card today, and start walking at

your leisure. Once you have completed 50 miles, turn it in to receive a meal

ticket for the IH Dining Room!

Right: Stu and Barb celebrated their 62nd anni-versary on Feb-ruary 14th, and renewed their vows that same day. The Vow Renewal was full of smiling faces, kind hearts, and beautiful mo-ments. Congratulations “again” to all the lovely couples who renewed their vows. We are so grateful to have been apart your special day!
