The following is an Excerpt from the Allegra Website: “Allegra’s FootPRINT Fund is set to be a resounding success yet again, awarding as many as 29 non-profit organizations a share of $20,000 worth of in-kind marketing and print services. FootPRINT fund helps eligible non-profit organizations enhance their image, expand their services and extend their printing budgets utilizing Allegra’s marketing and print services. If you are a non-profit that could use our help in these ways we encourage you to apply for next year’s FootPRINT Fund.”

HOOTC is very pleased to be one of the recipients of the FootPRINT Fund this year. Last season Allegra created our effective and meaningful new logo. This year they have created our stunning new HOOTC brochure. Thank you to Aryn for all of your patience and thanks to all the other individuals from the Allegra group for their special care to our program.

The Borthwick Memorial Golf Tournament

For its second year, Hamilton Out of the Cold was one of the grateful beneficiaries from the 44th Annual Borthwick Golf Tournament. We are very grateful to May Morgan, George Hampson and all those individuals involved with the annual Borthwick Golf Tournament at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club. The September event resulted in a sizable donation to HOOTC. Excerpt from the Hamilton Golf and Country Club Website “This year’s proceeds will support five local Hamilton Charities: Hamilton Food Share, Wellwood, Wesley Urban Ministries, Out Of the Cold and Ancaster Community Services.”

Mischa Weisz Foundation

“In 2007, when Mischa Weisz was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, his close friend and financial advisor, Frank Helt, was there to help.” Excerpt from TD Waterhouse 2010 Newsletter

HOOTC was the appreciative recipient of a donation from the Mishca Weisz Foundation. Mischa Weisz was the President and CEO of the TNS Smart Network. He was a generous entrepreneur who, upon discovering he had a short time to live, wanted to do something significant and important for those in need. With help from his friend Frank, Mischa set up a foundation that would allow his family and friends to continue to give financial gifts to worthwhile charities after his death. Mischa will be remembered for this generosity and his name will live on through the spirit of his giving. Thank you Mischa.

Ancaster Film Fest

The Ancaster Film Fest is delighted to have completed its eleventh year providing the best in Canadian and International films to the Hamilton region while donating all of its proceeds to charities and service organizations. Since inception approximately half of the proceeds have been given to the Hamilton Out of the Cold program in recognition of the fantastic service this wonderful organization provides for the needy and homeless during the five coldest months of the year. Starting in January of this year and up to the present date; Ancaster Film Fest has donated $8700 to the Out of the Cold Program. We at AFF are honoured to continue to be able to assist HOOTC in this way. The twelfth season of the Ancaster Film Fest begins on Monday January 5th with screenings at 1:00, 4:00 and 7:15 p.m. at Ancaster Silver City. Memberships are sold out for 2015 but non members are always most welcome, $9 at matinees and $10 in the evening. ~ Julian D’Angela Visit ancasterfilmfest.com or check us out on Facebook for ongoing information.

THANK YOU to the Ontario Trillium Foundation

We Scare Hunger

Thank you to all the St. Mary’s high school students, parents, teachers and donors who participated in this very successful food drive. The food will go a long way in helping feed our very thankful guests.

Excerpt from We Scare Hunger “Millions around the world go hungry every day, even in our own backyard. This Halloween, hold a food drive in your school or community, or trick-or-treat for non-perishable food items instead of just candy. Then, drop them off at your local food bank to help stop hunger in its tracks.” Please visit their website at freethechildren.com
