Each time my answer has been an em- phatic “no”. I have truly enjoyed serving as your co-chair this past year. I’ve been blessed with knowledgeable and hard working board members and amazing committee chairpersons. Much has been ac- complished. Goals have been reached, good times have been had, and new friends have been made. I will share more of my reflections on the past year - and many a “thank you” - at the Holiday Luncheon. However, I cannot say too often how impressed I am with the talents, skills and sharing attitude of our membership and how much I have appreciated the support and encouragement so many of you have of- fered me. It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as your co-chair. Thank you all, Judy And thank you, Judy, for your enthusiastic leadership, the great ex- ample you are to all of us and the compassionate person you have been. (The MMQ Newsletter editor!) Looking back... Several times in the past month I have been asked if I’m glad that my term of office is about over. Each time my answer has been an em-phatic “no”. I have truly enjoyed serving as your co-chair this past year. I’ve been blessed with knowledgeable and hard working board members and amazing committee chairpersons. Much has been ac-complished. Goals have been reached, good times have been had, and new friends have been made. I will share more of my reflections on the past year - and many a “thank you” - at the Holiday Luncheon. However, I cannot say too often how impressed I am with the talents, skills and sharing attitude of our membership and how much I have appreciated the support and encouragement so many of you have of-fered me. It has been my pleasure and honor to serve as your co-chair. ON THE ROAD...by Barb Lowery

Some of you may be traveling through St. George, Utah on your way to your winter destination.

They have several quilt shops to visit. I stopped at Quilted Works and Lazy Daisy Cottage.

These two shops are just a few blocks from each other. Quilted Works is in a new, small strip

mall so it has lots of light and high ceilings. It’s divided into 3 showrooms. One is “seasonal”

where they had their Christmas samples, kits and bolted fabrics. The main showroom is where

they focus on their newer lines and color walls. Of course, they have books, patterns and no-

tions. The cutting area is at the cash register. They use the bar codes for inventory.

The Lazy Daisy Cottage is in a small house close to the St. George Church. The owner is a fabric

and pattern designer. They have a lot of Minkie and now it comes in many fabulous colors and

designs. I picked a kit with giraffe minkie. They have a room just with the minkie. They also

have lots of ribbon and wide rick rack. There are many samples using the minkie. There are kits

with simple directions. One thing they feature is receiving blankets - samples and kits. The

back makes the binding. I will see. I bought a kit. Besides the fabric, they also have gifts in-

cluding baby gifts like hats with bows, bright little dresses, pins made with lots of layers of cir-

cles. You can buy a bag of various size circles. You can check out their blog at

www.lazydaisycottage.blogspot.com. The owner wrapped my purchases in a nice shopping bag

with tissue and a bow. Superior Threads is in St. George with a gallery and showroom. I will

definitely come back here.

I just wanted to say “thank you” to all of you who have made contributions to the Mountain Meadow

Quilters Newsletter this past year. I thank Judy for giving me the courage to say “yes” to the task, Pat

Hensley, Pam Morris-Stendal and Janet Hollister for their assistance in leading me through it ( I can’t

forget Scott who got me out of many of my “mix ups”). And to all of our sponsors and quilt shops for

keeping us up on what is going on in this “quilters’ paradise”, I say thank you.

I know that Trish Tyler will enjoy the job as much as I did and I wish her many happy hours keeping the

Guild up on what is going on. Do give her the same support that I received.
