PGS SUPPORTS SUN COAST HOS-

PICE CENTENARIAN BIRTHDAY

PARTY

On 5 May the PGS participated in a

birthday party for Pinellas County cente-

narians. This is the second year for the

event, and the second time the PGS was

one of its sponsors.

We provided a family history question-

naire that the honorees filled out, and

was then used to introduce them. We did

the same thing last year, and again, that

activity was the center-piece of the fes-tivities...in addition to the cake, of

course. (You can find that questionnaire

at the Members-only website.)

We also had a display table at the event

with three of our loyal volunteers to dis-

tribute handouts, answer questions, and

encourage families to continue their in-

formation gathering after they got home.

By the way, the oldest honoree was 112!

TAKE A BREAK

As usual every year about this time, some of

our activities will go dark for a couple

months:

The Family Tree Maker Users Group will

not meet again until 3 September.

The Roots Magic Users Group will meet

this month on 28 May, but then will not meet

again until 27 August.

The Family History Writers Workshop

will not meet again until 23 August.

18 Jun: Field trip to the Armed Forces Mu-

seum (see article on page 1)

16 Jul: Brian MacNeel—Crime Prevention:

Strategies and Tips

20 Aug: Damon Hostetler—Where is the Old

Geezer? I Know He’s There!

If you have ideas for programs or speakers you would like

to hear during our meetings, let us hear from you. Contact

Millard Russell: [email protected]

There is a nomi-

nal fee to enter

the museum: the normal cost is

$11.95, but if we

have more than

15, then the cost

drops to $9.95.

Regardless of

any of that, sen-

iors (65+) are

charged $9.95.

Anyone with a

military ID card

(active or re-

tired) is free.

The museum is just a couple blocks east of the corner of Starkey and

Ulmerton Road. If you have any military memorabilia or stories to

share, bring them along. This museum is huge, so expect some walk-

ing. It is one of the “treasures” of this area. Come and be amazed!
